Ok, guys. I am TRULY, TRULY sorry. But if anyone knows me for all these year, you know I don't post here and just spew crap. I can't give you any more than what I am gonna tell you because the source I heard it from is from Fox News Ohio and he is also a reporter from Fox News NY and he has CLOSE...VERY CLOSE ties to Van Gundy. Here goes...

There was a problem with some billing from their affiliates and I had to go during my vacation into the office today to call. So we started talking about Houston and the coaching situation. And he told me this:

There is another team that has made a "Blow the Doors Off" offer to Van Gundy or is about to".

I freaked. Totally. I kept asking him "WHO! WHO!" And he told me just like this:

I am not gonna tell you where I heard it or whats going on, but I know you told me that you go online alot. I don't want you to ruin what I am gonna tell you with names. So, I am not saying. But be prepared. Your team is gonna have to cough up big money. I can tell you this, the place is MUCH, MUCH closer to NYC than Houston is." He giggles.

I just got goosebumps repeating this. And this is the same guy who told me back in the day that Pippen could be on his way to Houston and if you go back, I remember posting something like it and even talking to Clutch about it on the phone.

I haven't talk to this guy for about 2 or 3 years because I don't handle their billing accounts anymore. But I had to fix a problem that one of my people made an error on. I totally TRUST this guy. He has never told me anything that is not true.

I am freakin out. Dunleavy? Oh my God. Please no!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Boston, Philly, Washington, New Jersey.

    Not New Jersey.

I don't think VG would want to deal with the mess in Boston.

    Philly or Washington.

I think its Philly since Portland won't release Mo Cheeks.

Wouldn't that be funny if the Rockets lose out on Van Gundy AND Larry Brown because of the money they paid Rudy T to step down?

If JVG were lost to Wiz, then who would have wanted him? If it is Philly, then 'enjoy The Answer'.

If it is a 'negotiating ploy', then that's fine.

But do not leave us with Michael Dumb/Dull/Done with the NBA leavy. Do NOT!

It's gotta be Philly. No way JVG would take the Washington job after how they treated MJ and Doug Collins, unless they did something drastic like making him the highest paid coach in the league.

That would be kind of funny. Never underestimate the heart of a champion.

Almu - Even if Gundy goes elsewhere, I don't think Mike D. would come here now. This is like playing second fiddle.

I think CD made a mistake by announcing to the world that VG was their choice and it was up to VG to make the decision. On top of that, CD told Mike D's agent that VG was the choice. Bad negotiation strategy.

    Who has Kenny Smith's number?

You mean the city that Van Gundy said he came to a mutual decision with Billy King that "it wasn't a good fit"?

There was a story posted from an online paper saying Washington was going to make JVG an offer. Washington can offer both money and power (GM and coaching positions).

Thanks for the scoop, Almu. The Rockets really can't afford to lose on Van Gundy.

Exactly NIKEstrad, I remember hearing that too. So I guess it has to be Washington, if we lose out on Van Gundy we are in serious trouble.

I thought Philly and Van Gundy had recognized a 'non-fit?"

van gundy now has a lot of leverage in the negotiations now that we have declared the job is his without anything finalized. I just don't get why CD announced that, its pretty boneheaded if you ask me.

Even funnier than that is that we wanted Philly's old coach in Larry Brown and lost out, and now Philly (that is who I think it is) is going to take who we wanted.

Van Gundy seems like he is trying to be very picky with where he wants to coach. He already said that Philly would not be a good spot so cross that off the list. That leaves Washington or perhaps Toronto. I think since Toronto still owes Wilkens money they can't afford JVG. Washington is probably offering something similar to what it offered LB in the Coach/GM job. Maybe not the 8million a year but it could be close. But the team is total crap! It will take YEARS before they are even respectable. Would VG want that even for perhaps more money?

With Houston you have to believe that he will get a competitive money offer and in addition will be at an organization committed to winning with 2 star players and perhaps a dominant player on Yao Ming. I would be SHOCKED if VG went to Washtington over the Rockets just because of more money with all that Houston has to offer!

The frightening thought is that MD would accept. It would be wrong, but he would do it. That would really give him cred with his players, right.

If JVG does not come here then CD's statements/pronouncements will be his legacy.

Let Smith coach. That's Larry, l-o-n-g before Kenny!

    Man. That's some thinking!

You are right. Philly...not a good fit. Washington..well their team is horrible. Boston..well Jim O'Brien is still there. Knicks? No...Nets?...Byron Scott is staying. Toronto....they are trying to find a cheap assistant. Charlotte???????
