Time to vote: Will the Rockets make a draft day deal?

I think whoever we do pick, I personally won't agree with it, but it will surely be a great choice no doubt. Morey knows his stuff.

In the other thread it says that 610AM will have a big announcement at 8AM tomorrow...trade perhaps?

 

In the past two drafts we have bought 2nd round picks. I'd expect us to do something like that, maybe stash a euro player or something.

 

This what I see so far... If Golden State takes Donte Greene at #14, Batum and/or CDR will be avaliable when the Rockets choose at #25.

If Greene slips.....
I think the Rockets will trade if Donte Greene is avaliable in 20-24 range. If Greene is there at 22, which is Orlando's pick, the Rockets might trade with them for #22 and take Greene. Orlando is high on Courtney Lee, so if they are sure they can get Lee later they might trade picks with the Rockets. The Rockets could give them cash+future pick+ 25th for the 22nd pick. I only see Orlando as a possible threat in the 20-24 range to draft Greene.

 

I'm pretty sure Orlando would be wanting to do this:

22nd pick
JJ Redick

25th pick
Chuck Hayes

We'll do that only if to deny Utah a chance at Greene. They took Morris Almond 1 pick ahead of us when we wanted him.

Them drafting Courtney Lee instantly means JJ Redick is officially a bust.

 

I say a minor move will happen (it's not like we were that far from being number 1 in the conference). Along with the move I predict some Daryl Morey photo shopped pictures will appear as well.

 

Morey will surprise us, thats all I know.

 

I don't remember ever being excited for a draft like i am this year, even during 2002 and 1983 and 1984, i kinda knew who were picking, the organization usually spread their cards and the draft was not as secretive as it is now and usually lacked surprises.

This year is a major difference, not only am i majorly starved for NBA news relating to the Rox but i also want to see if Pat Riley will be a man of his words and select someone else other than Beasely at number 2.

I'm so excited , i cant even sleep. Been surfing all over the web for draft news, lol

 

There is probably just a normal event where the Rockets select their draft. I do hope they will buy a pick also.

 

I agree. If we do make a trade, I think it will be a trade down, maybe for Portland's two 2nd rounders. However, if Nicolas Batum is still there at 25, I could see us taking him (or maybe I just want to spite San Antonio, who is rumored to want Batum at 26)

 

I see action bewtween houston and portland. Battier,Head,#25 for Outlaw,Jack,#27. That's my feeling. If he didn't draft Gay or Brewer 2 yrs ago, why would he draft Green,CDR, or Rush?

 

i think minor deal, and voted that way, but the line between minor and
major could be quite fine.

 

That's basically my thinking as well.

 

Best case scenario- trade up 3-4 spots and get a nice player
OK case scenario- trade down and get multiple roll of the dice nice players in 2nd rd.
Worst case scenario- trade out of this draft for a future #1 and/or cash

I have no insider info but sooner or later (maybe 10 or 20 years) the Rockets will do a blocbuster trade on draft day and then I can say...."See I told you so!"

 

I am pretty sure Morey is preparing something suprising for us. And I hope it will be major move which will be good for us.

I only hope it won't be something like Swift+Gay for Shane...
