Rudy T for George Karl (I think Bucks may fire him soon)

Francis for Payton/A. Miller (I don't think we can get Jason Kidd)

    Mobley for Mo Pete

    M. Taylor for Jerome Willimas

    Keep Yao and EG

Allow Nachbar and Hawkins to develop...

It sounds good, but it may not work though.

    Any idea?

George Karl? His stock is lower than any big name coach in the NBA.

That would be a serious downgrade.

I'd rather hire an up and coming assistant in the mold of a Rick Carlisle, than a re-tread like Karl. Karl has only 1 Finals appearance, to my knowledge.

He also had never really been able to get Cassell to play smart basketball and defense. Kind of like the current PG we have now.

You can keep Karl. Karl is one of those coaches who are the first to do the wrong things.

He was the first coach to lose as the #1 seed to #8 seed.
He coached the first US pro team to not win the gold medal

I don't like the 1st time stuff. Personally, I think Calvin Murphy would be a good coach for this team. I think it would be a bad thing to switch coaches during the middle of the season though.

    Mobley+Francis for Barry+Payton

Payton is in the last year of his contract so you could have cap space to go after Miller next year and Barry is a fairly young, high fg percentage, low turnover, high assist guy....its the best panic move out there for Rudy...maybe....hopefully...a move like that can save coach his job.

How about Francis + Mobley for Payton + Desmond Mason, assuming Payton says that he WOULD sign an extension with us?

We'd have enough talent to make us a contender, even if Payton loses a step.

    Ming
    Griffin
    Posey
    Mason
    Payton

I assure you, Ming and Griffin would look like STARS with Payton, while Desmond Mason would get his chance to shine as the starter.

We'd have to throw in Mo Taylor. Basically, we give them a whole bunch of youth and a decent PF, in exchange for their star who is old and leaving, and a great prospect for the future.

Today, I'd do it, and wouldn't mind Payton being at the helm for another 3 years. If he stays 3 season, I'm sure we can find someone to replace him by the 4th. Besides, our other stars are all entrenched in this team: Ming, Griffin and Mason will form a great trio, with Posey doing all the dirty work, effort, little things type of stuff. By the time Payton leaves, those guys will have developed enough to play with a decent PG.

Why would we trade for a backcourt tandem that are started for a team that isn't not even as good as our own?

To me, that is taking a step backwards.

How about acquiring Jason Williams ? He's not happy in Memphis.
He will definately feed more assists than Stevie or Cuttino.

Comparing JWill's out of control play makes Steve look like John Stockton re-incarnated. However, I wouldn't mind acquiring JWill if we could get Pau Gasol and/or Shane Battier at the same time.

Trading Francis for all the Grizz combined would never work capwise, and, when my morning caffeine kicks in, I will again understand that this would be an abysmal trade for the Rockets. However, after all the painful games since the Laker triumph, I am momentarily letting Walter Mitty loose on my fantasies. Please forgive my this momentary lapse in Rocket faithfulness.
