You haven't heard, Ax? The Jazz signed none other than everyone's favorite 2 for 18 7th game of the NBA Finals bricklayer, John Starks!

HAHAHA!! Isn't there supposed to be a youth movement in Utah? Aren't they supposed to be "rebuilding"??

I've been waiting for a LONG time to see the Jazz deteriorate to a lottery team...maybe, just maybe, it will finally happen

A-Train -

Did you hear that they are also interested in Danny Manning? It's funny but I'm not kidding. Imagine their new starting lineup:

Polynice
Malone
Russell (the only young one)
Starks
Stockton

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I heard about Starks, but I had no idea it was finalized.
If the Jazz had gotten Manning and Starks together about 3-4 years ago (while they had Anderson and Carr), they'd probably be a pretty good contender...
Now, it's just adding over-the-hill players to other over-the-hill players [IMG]

I'll be content with finishing .500 because it looks like(on paper) that we aren't going to improve muc, if at all.

DAMN, did I just say that??

As the team stands now, I think .500 would be a successful year.

Danny Manning??

HA!!

I say...

Manning's knees have been sliced on more times than a Christmas ham...

anyways, not one to go off topic (and being the eternal pessimist), the Rockets will go 39-43 and get beat by Dallas for the final playoff spot...

on another note, what would you rather see this year?? The Rockets make the playoffs, or the Jazz MISS the playoffs??

I'd have to go for the latter

Assuming Cat does sign and assuming no other significant signings I think .500 is possible. However I think w/out a legitimate big man (honestly I am not counting on Dream coming back to even 1998 form) we are out of the playoffs.
Hopefully we can use the exception to land a big body who can play, then I could see us wing maybe 48-560 and being a 7 or 8 seed.

The team will improve from last year. Francis and Mobes maturing, a relatively health Hakeem, improved Cato, and Langhi will help win us 46 games. Add a big guy with the exception; that will help us win about 48-50 games.

Unless anything changes, (and I have reason to believe that things will) I don't see us winning anymore than 40 games, max. We did pick up Langhi, who seems to be doing well, but other than that we've done nothing. Other teams in our range have improved. (look at the Mavs) And the teams in front of us haven't gotten worse. (except for the Jazz, but they won't fall this far) And the idea that we have another year together only works if we don't trade half the team to get player X.

We can hope, but don't sell the farm.

39-43, no playoffs, lottery.

I reserve the right to change this based on new roster additions, and Hakeem's health.

I agree with W-L record. I think 43 wins should land us the ninth seed, though.

I could see .500 this year without being
disappointed. This year I'd rather see the
Jazz out of the playoffs than the Rockets
in. It's a more likely scenario.

It all depends on who we bring in with the exception. If we can bring in a legit PF, this is a very solid team. The way things stand now, I see us being 44-38 and being the 8th seed. But I don't think things will stay that way for long- I'm sure Rudy and CD have good plans for that exception...

It's gonna be tough to predict who's going to be in the playoffs with 11 possible western teams like the:

Lakers - definitely - Shaq and Kobe..'nuff said
Blazers - definitely - depth, depth, depth and besides, when else will Quitten have a chance to choke when it counts but in the playoffs?
Spurs - almost definitely - especially with the twin towers and the possible acquisition of Derek Anderson
Suns - probably - unless there are more injuries like last year and the injured (Kidd, Googs) don't come back in full form
Kings - probably - with Webber, Divac and Williams...but the role players will need to perform too (especially on D)
Wolves - maybe - they need more scorers and a legit big man
Jazz - maybe - unless Malone and Stockton's games deteriorate even more (which they could) and if they don't find a good Hornacek replacement.
Rockets - maybe - pending a free agent and if all of our hopeful players improve/pan out and we can duplicate our last 20 games of last season - upside we have a lot of....but I'm hopeful we can reach that potential
Sonics - with the emergence of Rashard Lewis and maybe some improvement on the part of Baker as well as the steady play of Payton
Nuggets - maybe - if the large collection of talent can mesh and win on the road
Mavericks - maybe - perennial suck-fest has actually acquired a pretty good collection of talent and they could make a push for the playoffs too - if Trent can stay injury-free and if they can learn to play some D.

In the end, I hope your Rockets prediction does come true, because we should rightly be a perennial playoff team anyway.

Yup, next year will be the start of 20 straight playoff appearances.
