Makes you pine for John Tesh's NBC/NBA Music. http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=2015554 Timberlake Takes Tunes To NBA Justin Timberlake has signed on to write the theme song for ABC's coverage of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and will appear in the network's NBA promotional campaign, dubbed "Can't Get Enough." The 'N Sync star will also serve as a correspondent at NBA games and other ABC Sports events. "Justin Timberlake is a mega-star, and we are excited to have him as part of ABC Sports," ABC Sports senior VP/executive producer Michael Pearl said in a statement. "This provides a unique integration of sports and entertainment, and Justin's interest and enthusiasm not only in the NBA, but in all sports, should help provide our broadcasts with a new, fresh approach." Earlier this year, Timberlake was a special correspondent for Turner Sports, reporting from the PGA championship, NBA playoffs, and NASCAR races for the TNT network, and covering college football and Major League Baseball contests for TBS. The artist is gearing up for a 29-date European tour, beginning Nov. 16 in Ghent, Belgium, pausing after a Dec. 21 show in Dublin and picking back up Jan. 9 in London. -- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Who in the hell do they think watches sports the most? 13 year old girls? This is a freaking stupid as it gets.
Deuce, this is not a shot at you, as I know you share my opinion, but can we restrict the words " Justin Timberlake" from any and all basketball related forums from this point forward, with the possible exception of mentioning his taking Kenny Smith to school whenever Smith tries to bash Yao and other foreign born players...
FWIW (which is probably nothing) Timberlake's last album was shockingly well received by music critics; i.e., it had some substance and complexity to it and didnt just consist of him shrieking "girl, you blah blah blah blah girl, blah blah girl" Not only that, but Justin Timberlake is a mega-star, and I am excited to have him as part of ABC Sports. This provides a unique integration of sports and entertainment, and Justin's interest and enthusiasm not only in the NBA, but in all sports, should help provide their broadcasts with a new, fresh approach.
Justin Timberlake could possible be the most talented young musician out there right now. Nothing wrong with this move by the NBA.
huh? What instruments does he play? Or is it more that he's an exceptional songwriter? He's got a mediocre at best voice...I honestly don't see any demonstrative talent, other than he can dance all right, and some girls think he's cute.
really??? i'm not a fan, but i certainly wouldn't begin to say his voice is mediocre or that he has no demonstrative talent. he plays the piano on some of his songs, by the way.
Seriously; his album got very positive reviews in the New Yorker (by Alex Ross who is fairly well regarded) among other places for being shockingly deep. I think he plays the piano or keyboard or soemthing like that, though not that well.
I saw him play guitar on SNL. I'm not gonna argue about his talent or anything, I just think his music doesn't fit the tastes of the average NBA fan.
I hate his whiney pop wanna-be R&B music. The theme would be better if it was something by Tesh or Springsteen or hell, considering the demographics of the league, a hip-hop beat.
