I just finished watching NBA Fastbreak and they had a segment of top 5 centers in the league. Rick Carlisle gave his rankings and they were respectable. Then Tim Legler gave his rankings:

    1. Dwight Howard
    2. Andrew Bynum (wtf?)
    3. Greg Oden (wtf?!?)
    4. Amare Stoudemire
    5. Yao Ming

Either Tim Legler is off his rocker or maybe I heard wrong. But I could've sworn that Matt Weiner (the host) gave the situation as, "If it was Game 7, rank the top 5 centers you would want to have start for your team."

Not surprised. Tim is one of those "analyst" that see Yao as being a "softie".

how can you have a guy that hasn't played 1 NBA game as your number 3 center?

he lost all credibility right there.

    Carlisle's were:

    1. Tim Duncan
    2. Dwight Howard
    3. Yao Ming
    4. Andrew Bynum (not sure though)
    5. Rasheed Wallace

I mean Bynum is not bad, but it seems like everybody is jumping on the Bynum bandwagon. He's put up good numbers recently, but we'll see if he can provide some consistency. I guess when something good or bad happens in Tinseltown it gets overblown to gigantic proportions.

^^^^ yeah I don't know how I forgot about Stoudemire. Carlisle's was really respectable. Legler's on the other hand was ugh. If Carlisle had TD on his list I expected Legler to have him on his too...guess not? Little did I know he would have Bynum and Oden on there. BTW, Chris Kaman is having a breakout season this year, and sadly nobody is noticing since he's on that "other team in LA".

okay, my credential is far less than these 2 on tv, but in my book

    yao (hands down)

    howard
    bynum
    amare
    kaman

    (subject to change w/o notice)

td is a 4 so he's off the list, even he's a greater player than eacn of these listed.

and if legler wants to throw oden in there for whatever reason, he can just say, "or every #1 overall pick each year so long as he's a center and not named yao ming". lol.

Wow. If you are not putting Yao, Dwight and Amare as the top 3 (in any particular order but the order I put them reflects my ranking) then you have no credibility whatsoever.

To put a guy who has never played an NBA game in the top 5 (or top 25) is just stupid. Putting Bynum ahead of Kayman is pretty stupid too.

As a side note, I love how Shaq was still the best C in the league last season according to most analysts despite the fact that Yao was outperforming him both statistically and in head-to-head match ups. Suddenly, D. Howard steps up his game this season and now many "experts" are saying he is the best C. I wonder if Howard was still putting up the same numbers as last year if Shaq would still get the "best center" label. Actually, I don't wonder. I know the answer and I know why.

For the record, Shaq's stats are very similar to last season's.

Relax, everyone can have his/her own opinion. Opinion is cheap. Sadly, they got paid for their opinion. I wish I had that kind of job.

Tim's legs are going no place after this, His credibility should be mute from here on,I know personally that whatever he says from now will be looked at as non existing. He must didn't watch the last game between Yao and Howard

mine: first three I will pick

Yao Ming(Consistant performance, good stats and 2 times fairly dominating DH)

Dwight Howard. (Consistant performance and good stats)

Either Stoundemire or Bynum(not in favor of either of them, and find me no love in centers)
