Tim Legner/Ric Buchor recap(ESPN radio this morning) Both Tim and Ric had something to say about the Rockets this morning on the Mike and Mike show. I missed the beganning of it but I will try to recap the rest of them. -Tim said T-Mac is the top 3 player in the NBA along with Lebron and Tim Duncan and is slowly becoming a winner not just a great player. -Ric said in order for T-Mac to be in the top 3, he must show a consistency of making his team better and beating the Mavs would come a long way to prove that. He thinks T-Mac is the most pysically talented player in the NBA and that he just need to bring out his mental game more and that he's slowly doing that. -Tim said Yao is slowly evolving into a player everyone is expected of him and that he is not getting the credit he deserves. Said the display Yao had shown in last night was dominate and that he took it right to Dampier and never back down. -Ric said to be fair to Yao....the reason why he is slowly improving this year instead of a big jump everyone had expected of him is b/c he had to adjust to all new player, something that Yao is not use to in China. Yao thought he would stay with Cat and Steve for a long time.
Legler on ESPN 790 this morning Not sure how many of you listened, but I switched over when 610 went to commercial, and the brought in Legler to talk about the Rockets. You could tell he was very proud to come out and speak since he really chose the Rockets to "upset" the Mavericks. They just talked about how great McGrady is, how Yao was so dominant, basically everything being said on these boards. He spoke of the trades this season, and there was just somethign about it that sent chills through my body listening to him just praise the Rockets so much. I feel so proud of this team and confident for them. Humble, focused, and let's hope successful! And the clip of the Houston radio call on 610 of the last mavs shot... NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Spine tingling...
that is an awesome clip.. Too bad there is such a delay when watching the games and listening on the radio. I would much rather kill the sound and listen to Peterson
There was one in the game thread and one person posted it. The other 49 just took it and ran. They may post it later though.
Legler ESPN Chat: I'm sure hee'd love to talk Rockets. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=7978 NBA with Tim Legler! Welcome to The Show! On Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET, ESPN's NBA analyst Tim Legler will take your questions right here! Legler played in the CBA, USBL the World Basketball League in addition to spending time in the NBA throughout the 90's. Although Legs was never drafted in by the NBA, a little known fact is that he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a high school third baseman and pitcher. Send in your questions to Tim now, he'll be here to answer them on Tuesday at 11 ET!
More importantly... Do we now have another female user posting on the bbs? I think that brings us up to a total of 3. -- droxford
Yeah, I lurked for such a long time, and am just becoming more comfortable around all of you. Not to mention, with the Rockets' play this year it's hard to just sit and read when I can contribute.
This morn Legler also said that the Rockets unfortunately will probably have to play Phoenix in the next round, and that PhO is the only team in the WC that Houston and especially Yao do not match up well against. And that Amare would cause tons of matchup porblems for Yao Obviously, Legs didn't watch many of the Houston Phoenix matchups this year.
I heard that on Mike and Mike this morning. ESPN must be crapping in their pants predicting all this crap of Dallas winning in 5, 6, etc.
the analysts are crapping in their pants - because they made the "safe" pick the ESPN management is crapping their pants with excitment because they get to televise more Rocket games !
exact same thing I thought when I heard that.. Yao hasnt really had that much trouble playing PHO...Amare gets s few points off of short jumpers...but his ability to operate around the rim is severely hampered by Yao. Just lik ethis series against Dallas....ppl are going to underestiamte the Rox against PHO cause they really havent seen them play and they dont realize that the Rockets play up to the Suns level more often than they dont. I hope we make it by Dallas to test out our ability to get by the "best team in the league"...I think we will be able to take em to 6 ot 7 easy. but I dont want to look too far ahead...I have faith we can take Dallas...but Im not willing to dismiss this series as over just yet.
I agree with you guys, but Tim seemed to be alluding that in the playoffs, the tempo and energy is higher. We see that. Yao will have some trouble if Phoenix really pushes the tempo as they have been so far in the playoffs. I think the Rockets can beat Phoenix in a series, but it will seem to be the toughest test.
You guys(gals) know better than to talk about round 2 after 2 games. Bad form. Tracy said the team is just taking it one game at a time, and we fans should take the same attitude. There's a long way to go still. Live in the moment, don't look too far ahead or you'll miss something beautiful.
Absolutely. Tim just spoke on they could beat any team in the west, but phoenix serving the largest road block/hurdle. We are by no means past Dallas. The confidence is high and I really like the quiet swagger the Rockets have. On a side note, I hate how Howard and Terry kept acting like they had done something, staring down our players. But T-mac embarrasses them, and doesn't stare down anyone, I really like that.
tracy did start hot dogging, but only after he hit the game winner not just some jumper in the 3rd quarter or something
well, you're right. after humiliating bradley, t-mac wasn't staring anyone down, he was staring through people. i don't think any mav had the heart to look tracy in the face after that dunk. total ownership of the court. t-mac is god.
