Hey I know we have Francis, but Hardaway is a winner, he hits clutch shots and we could use him. The report today says that hes mad at RIley, they wont extend his contract. Anyway, he said that he liked Houston but pointed out the guard situation. He also said that he might sign with Indiana for the exemption. Sorry fun police if this is the wrong forum, but this has to deal with roster moves IMO

Wrong forum, it deals with other team's roster moves , not ours.

This BBS is going to turn into "proper forum," "improper forum" threads, regardless of what the thread is really about.

Why does it matter if the article itself does not state Houston anywhere? The poster is suggesting and sharing the thought of Houston acquiring this guy.

Geeze...where are the Fun Police when you need them???

Oh, and by the way, I don't think we have room for Timmy. But if it came down to Timmy or Moochie....

Love ya Moochie but you gotta go! Tim Hardaway would never accept a backup role, and he shouldn't. He is a starter.

If he wants to join "someone cheap", I suggest the Clippers. They're probably the cheapest team out there.

Francis mostly played SG in college so why can't our lineup be:
    PG Hardaway
    SG Francis
    SF Taylor or Shandon
    PF Taylor or Kenny
    C Hakeem or Cato

That's better then our current lineup.

    Steviewonder,
I sincerely doubt that Rudy will play francis at SG. We have debated about this before. He is our PG and that is what we acquired him for. Signing Hardaway would be a waste of his talents.

Besides, in a few years, people will be saying "Hardaway who?" Stevie is going to be one stellar PG.

Ok, we arent gonna get Hardaway. Plain and simple. He's old, won't fit our style of offense; if we want some veteran to influence Stevie, we have Moochie.

That is exactly what a team full of young players, including one of the outstanding young point guards in the league, needs: an old, broken down point guard that shoots first. He's a perfect fit. How could I have missed it?

Fun Police does not care about proper forums, but the Serious Police is going to get migranes if he sees this blatant disregard for rules.

AntiSonic, Timmy was picked up by the ABA as the last pick in their draft.

Hardaway still has game, he just doesn't belong here in houston. He's a great player. But he deserves to be with a contender.

Indiana doesn't want him, but he will need to stay in the East. In the East he could thrive at his position. He won't be able to compete in the West against the elite PG.

We don't need Mr. Killer Cross-over now, but we definatley could have used him from '97-'99, when the "Lets bring KJ here threads" made the recent onslaught of Mo Taylor topics look feeble.

    Couldn't the Knicks use Hardaway?

i would have gladly added the 94/95 hardaway to the 94/95 championship rocket teams. we were weak at the pg spot (except for sam the man). but he would have been an excellent addition as a veteran. he was clutch.

but today's tim hardaway is far from clutch. he's more like the brakes that cease your offensive progression. he takes ill-advised, quick 3pt jackings from the pg spot. did you see the miami playoffs last season, where timmy single-handedly stifled alonzo mourning? i mean his defense on mourning was spectacular. his style is inpenetrable. his defense is impregnable. he's a conqueror. he's alexander. he's sonny liston. he's jack dempsey. he's from their cloth.

i want to tear his heart out. i want to eat his children. all praises to allah!

seriously, no to timmy. i don't even want him around steve.

This is the right forum since he's suggesting the Rockets pick him up. Let's not be so quick on that trigger, please.

Of course, the Rockets have 3 point guards under contract at the moment. They are also over the cap and would have to sign him to an exception or work out a sign and trade deal. Possibly moving the 4.5mil trade exception and Drew for Hardaway. No way Hardaway signs for the $1M veteran exception. I also doubt he wants to be a backup.

I thought last year the Francis could have benefited from a veteran backup point guard like Derek Harper, or even Brian Shaw who they let go. Now, I don't see that scenario playing out. Norris may have something to offer him, being older and playing in the CBA.

I don't see the Rockets making this kind of move, honestly.
