Tiger Woods 10 - Wii Motion Plus The new Tiger Woods with the Wii Motion Plus is out today, and I'm on my way to get it right now. I thought it might be fun do a ClutchFans online tournament depending on how many people pick it up. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play it too much until Thursday night, but when I do I'll see how the online play works to see if it will be good for online tournaments. If the online mode doesn't work out too well, I might think about hosting a get together for a Houston area tournament. Anyone else getting this for the Wii?
I did play a little last night and it was a blast. The controls are about as realistic as you can possibly get with a Wii remote. It tracks your backswing, follow through and the rotation of the controller when you strike the ball (fading, drawing or going straight based on the rotation). Adding spin is the only unrealistic part, but that's very hard to do since I think spin in real golf is determine where you hit ball. I played one online game and shot an 80, and was actually happy with the score. Usually on video game golf I shoot in the low 60s / high 50s, so I was happy with the challenge. Putting is very realistic as well. I three putted several times because of over or under hitting the putts. The game determines the power based on backswing, tempo and follow through. You can barely swing back, yet punch it in your follow through to have a long putt. The tournament mode looks like you are competing against everyone on the same course for that day, which may work for what I was thinking about. We just need to get a list of your Tiger Woods name after you sign up. Only thing I don't like about it is at least three characters are required so I can't use B. The other tournament mode that looked fun was the one that actually lets you compete against the pros on the day of the PGA Tour event. You play the same course as the pros, same weather conditions, and the real pros scores get posted against everyone else competing against them online. Though I have a feeling by the next PGA event there will be some people who have gotten very good with the game and can shoot in the high 50s, giving the real pros no shot at winning. If you are on the fence about getting the game, here are some reviews: IGN - 9/10 http://wii.ign.com/articles/993/993199p1.html Nintendo Power - 9/10 no link 1Up - A- http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3174708&p=44 I'm sure more will be added this week if those don't convince you. http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/tigerwoodspgatour10
B, thanks for the review. I have Tiger Woods 09 for the Wii and I’ve only played it a few times. It’s so unplayable that I actually prefer the golf game on the sports disc over it. The reason is that the swing is just so unrealistic. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve missed a 2-foot putt because my swing didn’t extend all the way behind my head. I mean, you have to whack the HELL out of the ball just to make a 2-foot putt. How realistic is that?? Also, half the time when I swing, my player just stands there with the club behind his head. Then as I bring my arms back down after I swing, he’ll swing at like 20%. I hope they fixed this glitch for 10 or I’ll just stick to the sports game that came with the Wii….
Friends don't let friends post in forums while driving.* *Unless it's ClutchFans No, really, don't post while driving.
I have this EXACT same problem with Woods '09. i can't putt because you have to putt like your hitting off the tee... and every hit ends up being 85% and you overshoot a 4 ft. putt by 15 #$*# feet!!!! I am more excited about using the Wii MotionPlus for Grand Slam Tennis... This video of the game is unreal... http://tennis.easports.com/media.action?itemID=WiiMotionPlus-Video-20090423094259955.xml
Just picked this game up yesterday for the 360 and it is wayyy harder than the '09 version. For some reason they made putting insanely difficult this year and it's frustrating because it seems like putts always end up on the very edge of the hole without going in. The game needed to be harder though, the '09 version was just ridiculously easy.
The Wii Motion Plus (bundled with Tiger Woods 10) that attaches to the Wii pretty much fixes all the problems you are talking about. You can putt how you would in real life so no more need for awkward putt motions.
I bought the 360 version yesterday. I really like it, but I can get no good distance with my swing. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I just got one from my PS3. There is a gameface option when creating you character. I am guessing you download a pic of yourself and it makes your character look like you. Well when I go to it, it say "go to Ea website...." or "get off usb camera". Well I hook up my Sony camera and the PS3 won't recognize it. Am I doing something wrong????/
