Just saw it on CNBC. They said he needs a 2nd knee surgery. I was wondering if that would be the case after watching his interview yesterday on ESPN.
He apparently suffered a stress fracture during rehab and needs ACL surgery. This make his win even more amazing.
Major titles record aside, if he even retires from the game right now wouldn't he be considered the greatest golfer ever? He's won in pretty much every way conceivable and the US Open just adds on to his legendary career.
I'm not that surprised considering the intense grimaces after almost every shot. Hopefully he'll be back up to full speed the second time around, knee problems are hell for any sport.

AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA (TICKER) —Tiger Woods, the world’s top-ranked player, will undergo season-ending knee surgery, according to a report by the Golf Channel on Wednesday. Woods’ decision to undergo a second surgery on his left knee this year comes two days after he won his 14th major championship by defeating Rocco Mediate in a dramatic playoff at the U.S. Open. According to the report, Woods experienced a small stress fracture in his leg about two weeks before the U.S. Open, which was causing him pain. Doctors feel that Woods needs surgery to repair the ACL. At times during the U.S. Open, Woods was noticeably limping. However, he still was able to force the playoff in thrilling fashion in Sunday’s final round with a birdie putt at No. 18, then made another birdie at No. 18 in the playoff before ultimately winning on the 91st hole. While his schedule will be put on hold, Woods will continue to make numerous appearances and fulfill his sponsor and charitable commitments over the next five to six months.

Well, even if the knee is bad permanently, at least he proved that he can still beat everyone with one leg.
Hard to keep up these days. It would be interesting to see how golf ratings compare between Tiger and non-Tiger tournaments. My totally uneducated guess would be that they are cut in half if Tiger isn't in contention. I admit that, although I like watching golf on TV, I always quickly scan the leaderboard for Tiger when I first turn it on. That makes a difference as to whether I'll watch or not.
Dude. As long as he doesn't play for the national team, and he rehabs during the summer, it's cool. I do love the fact that he's brought so many fans from his country to this BBS, though. Now, if he has to sit on the sidelines with a back warmer... that's a different story...
This will slow him down considerably, but he still has the skills to be effective if he moves to the 3.
