Have any of you ever bought tickets (Basketball) from scalpers?

Is it cheaper than going straight to the box office?
    Is it safe?

Also, is it easy to get tickets for a group of people together?

I do baseball scalpers and football scalpers all the time. I've never had an issue... yet.

scalpers usually charge way too much. Just go to stubhub.com and depending on what game it is you probably can find a deal.

Texans and Rockets games should be going for cheap over there.

    Yeah.... No.

Unless you really want to pay far over ticket cost.

When you get there at game time, they are much more willing to negotiate considering they will be worthless in 2-3 hours.

    Bad, bad advice.

Oh those guys. I thought you were referring to ticket scalping companies. I went to one of their establishments once and they were charging 3x ticket value for an astros game that wasn't even a big game. Never went back.

If you can find scalpers standing outside before the game they are usually desperate to get rid of their inventory. Go to one of their establishments to buy a ticket and they will rip you off.

Currently tickets for Texans games are selling for about half off and same with some rockets tickets at stubhub.

If that's the case, then I take it back. In my experience there has always been a premium at Stubhub.

That's who I typically use. They aren't 100%, but I haven't had a counterfeit ticket yet. (I'd be much more careful with playoff tix, etc.)

I've bought a few tix from scalpers before... but for soccer games. Haven't had a problem. Just be good at negotiating.

I know plenty of scalpers as I was in the secondary ticketing for a few years. You can never trust any of these guys 100 %, but you can make good bargains because of what FFB said. The scalper I trust most always gets his own tickets to events (when he goes himself) that way, he just goes to the arena and waits until they either have to sell or throw them away.

So how does it work? I always see the same guy asking if I want to buy a ticket, also asking if I want to sell a ticket. Seems like you leave yourself open to having a bunch of leftover tickets.

not good if buying 3 or more tickets. bigger chance that you won't be sitting together.

if you buy the tickets after first quarter, they're going to give it at 50 percent off.

Ive used them before. Always pay less than face. But a better idea I found is to contact local ticket brokers day of and they are always slashing tickets to get rid of them.

Ive called the ticket experience 3 times this year day of and got lower level tickets for $25 each. Cant beat that!

Normally ima put off by the scalpers at the Toyota center because theyre ghetto looking and I feel like im getting hustled, they get all up in my business much like a homeless dude begging for change. But, i went to Aeros game few weeks back and got 3 tix for 20(considering the cheapest ticket at the box office was 16$) after the game started, pretty solid deal, no stupid 'convenience' charge that you get from stub hub and sites like that. Stubhub is for rich people..

exactly...i dont' get why everyone always says stubhub...they're be far the highest price point in any market for games...

as for scalpers, i'm always a little leary as they could be copied tickets, but you get what you pay for...

I heard; It's illegal to sell these tickets for more than cost. That is why Scalpers open the conversation with "You got any tickets for sell man?"
you say "No" then the door is open for them to sell to you.

It's like how Dracula has to be invited in. Just like that.

The box office still has thousands since they are scalping them themselves
