I now have two tix available for the Counting Crows/ John Mayer concert on Friday, July 25th in the Woodlands. I've talked to Apollo Creed about them previously, and if he still wants to buy them, he's got "dibs" on them. However, if someone else is interested, they are available on a first come, first serve basis. The tix are: center, row QQ, 19-20. Face on the tix are $45.50. Email me at: junglerules@hotmail.com if you are interested. Thanks in advance, Ryan
I'm definitely still going. I actually have orchestra tix for San Antonio, and seats (though not as good) for Houston. I bought four tickets, though they are separate sets of two, for Houston. Two of those tickets for h-town are now available because the people who were going to use them have had some family issues come up. I've seen Counting Crows 7 or 8 times, so I definitely wouldn't miss the show. I'm not crazy about them having to play first, but Mayer's not bad. I just wish the show would be longer. I've also heard some of Graham Colton's stuff. I think they are pretty solid for an opening act. I actually bought their cd online the other day. Anyway, if anyone is interested, I still have these tix for the time being.
junglerules.... you are right about graham colton.... they were with the counting crows at my college back in october.. although graham colton didnt play much.. what they did sounded pretty good.. i had never heard of them though.. I guess they are starting to get their name out more?
Yeah, they sounded familiar when I heard they were opening for counting crows. However, I went to their website, and I realized I'd never heard any of their music. Maybe i'd heard their name somewhere, I don't know. They're from the Dallas area, so I maybe I heard about 'em living here in Texas. Anyway, since at the time they were opening for a Better than Ezra show I had hoped to see, and i knew they were opening for CC/ Mayer in Texas, I decided to listen to some of their stuff on their site, and I really liked it. So much so that I bought a CD of theirs from their site since it's not available at all in stores. Turns out they just signed a major label deal with Universal, I believe.
Hey....Graham Colton/ CC/ Mayer are at Verizon in the San Antonio area on Thursday, July 24th. I'll be there, and then I'll be in Houston the following day. How is Verizon? Ever been? I'm sure it's similar to the Woodlands, and most other semi-covered outdoor venues.
jungle.. awesome. yeah the counting crows introduced them as someone who would get a big deal someday i believe... they didnt really perform much other than a song with the counting crows but it was enough to tell that was awesome seeing them with only like 2000 other people
I thought that John was going to play first? Some people were talking about leaving after mayer was done (as in before the crows came on) and I was livid about how big of idiots they are. Am I wrong?
Everything I've read before the tour, and about the tour as it's started over the past week or two, has the Crows going on before Mayer, even though they both play for about the same time. I really wish they'd at least rotate it, like CC did with LIVE when they co-headlined. However, that's not been the case. Lots of concert reviewers, fans and journalists, are crucifying Mayer for it, too. They say there is no WAY that a band that's been together for about 10 years, and has had years of success, should be taking a back seat to Mayer. However, the truth is unfortunately that Mayer is probably selling more tickets than the Crows are. Regardless, reviewers have been much more positive about the crows' sets than his, and I can totally see how they'd be a tough act to follow. Anyway, I'm going to go, and I'm going to enjoy both. I'm not going to be one of those tools who leaves before Mayer performs. I actually like his stuff, even though Counting Crows is far and away the best band out there, IMO. I'm sure I'll have a good time, but I definitely wish the Crows would be headlining, or at least going onstage at the end.
Say howdy to Adam Duritz for me. He and I shared the stage at GramFest '98 in Joshua Tree CA right before I moved back to Houston.
My brother-in-law met Adam at the Grammys a few years back...it was after the show and a bunch of people were going out to various parties...my brother-in-law arrived at the elevator bank in his hotel to go back to his room while other guests were pouring out to go to parties...Adam was standing waiting on an elevator as well...my brother-in-law introduced himself and said, "so you're not going out tonight?" Adam said, "no...the parties aren't for me, man...going up to get some reading done." My brother-in-law looked at the book he was holding..."War and Peace."
I've met him once myself before one of the shows. I think he was talking to one of the crew members about the Green Bay-New England Super Bowl that was about to be played. Anyway, CC is pretty well known for coming out early or after their show to talk to fans, sign autographs, stuff like that.
No, you're not wrong - Mayer sucks & he should be OPENING on EVERY leg of the tour. Mayer is nothing but a sappy sorority chick whiner, and I for one am tired of hearing his sorry ass. Geez, what have we come to - a band w/ yeard & years of good albums and solid musicianship opening for a frat boy love ballad singer...
WOO HOO!!! brother-in-law just called with my Mayer/Crows tickets!! Row N, Center section...and tickets to that VIP room that LonghornFan said sucked! Either way, I'm pumped!
Cool- maybe I'll see you there. With the two tix I am using, I'll be chilling with a friend in Row HH, center section, seats 52 and 53. Good times....
