I'm trying to buy Rodeo concert tickets on Craigslist and this question came to mind? Is it illegal in Houston to scalp tickets over face value? I know there are scalpers at every Rockets game, but is there a law or something?

Just as long as you don't scalp on the property where the event is being held or try to sell the tickets at any other private property you can charge whatever people are willing to pay.

I think it varies from state to state. In AZ it's legal as long as you are at least 200 ft away from the entrance of the event. I'm not sure about anywheres else.

ya i think i read that there aren't any laws prohibitting scalping, but there is an ordinance where you can't sell tickets without a permit...

Then how come all of these people right in front of the toyota center are always scalping rockets tickets way above face value right in front of the cops? I never understand why the cops let it go.

Probably because they have more important things to do than to break up a supply and demand issue.
