Last night and early this morning, the blizzard hitting NYC gave me a view of something I have heard of but never seen before....thunder snow. http://www.nytimes.com/learning/students/scienceqa/archive/990118b.html It was pretty cool. The whole sky lit up. Actually woke me up.
Thunder snow is something I've always wanted to experience it seems like it would be cool. We got a few inches in my area on Friday but it was all gone by Saturday afternoon.
Reminds me of that Lewis Black bit where he claims to have witnessed every type of weather at the same time.
Most snow in one day in Central Park since 1947. Its overrun by families sledding, dogs swimming in 30 inch snowbanks, and people walking around taking photos. Today, its beautiful. When it starts to melt it will be a mess.
