Here is the link. I think this will help Dallas a lot. http://www.boston.com/sports/basket...on_thinks_you_should_believe_in_magic/?page=2
Wow, I guess the Jason Kidd experiment is coming to an end.....and they gave up on Diop? Man, send him to us!
Hell, no! I want nothing to do with Diop and his full MLE contract for the next five years. Sure, he'd be a great addition for the league minimum or even a 3 yr./$8M contract. But not with that monstrosity of a deal. Also, what's up with that trade rumor? Dallas already has 3 players who can play PG (Kidd, Terry, Barrea). Why trade for Felton, who needs the ball in his hands to be effective? Whatever.
Yeah, I meant getting him for the minimum. No way I want his fat contract that Cuban got screwed with.
The Bobcats would be stupid to take Diop and Watson in exchange for Felton. Really stupid. The Mavs win this trade in grand slam fashion giving up Diop for Felton because Diop plus his contract have a huge negative value. I don't know if the Thunder expect much in return for Earl Watson.
Oklahoma City is the Thunders, and they give away Watson not getting Watson, they are getting Diop The Charlotte Bobcats are getting Watson, giving away Felton Mavericks are giving away Diop getting Felton.. It's okay, sometime i mess up with the OKCity and Charlotte a lot.
Do you have any idea how many centers the Thunder have? Plus they just signed Krstic... Diop's garbage contract will screw up their building plans... just doesn't make any sense for the Thunder.
Re-read. Both the OP and the link say Diop is going to Charlotte, NOT Oklahoma City. It doesn't make clear what the Thunder is getting back for Watson.
To be fair the article just said it would "include". My guess is OKC would get scraps in the form of 2nd round picks and/or cash considerations for parting with Earl Watson. If this trade did indeed happen the real winners would be OKC. They get rid of yet another contract, and by just getting filler they ensure their mediocre performance this year. They can then pin the blame on the coaching staff, hire another coach, have cap space to sign a free agent and still have a high lottery pick next year. That's not even counting the scraps they're gonna get from Charlotte and Dallas. Can you say genius? Second place goes to Dallas. Diop is nice, but his contract puts him in albatross territory. Getting rid of him is already a good thing by itself, but they also get Felton? LOL nice! Felton enables them to recoup some of the youth they lost with the Kidd trade. There really is no downside to their side of the trade as welll On the other hand, trading young talent for a vet and a defensive but limited big seems to be right up Larry Brown's alley. Felton has been kind of a bust so they didn't really give up much in terms of talent, but the contracts of Watson and Diop are gonna kill them. The bobcats are gonna end up with one of the higher payrolls but one of the lowest levels of talent in the league lol. It really sucks to be one of the 10 or so bobcat fans right now
Looks like trade's over. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56542/20090112/sources_injury_clouds_3_team_deal/
Why would the trade be over? Isn't that why the Bobcats are getting Earl Watson? What kind of injury does Augustin have?
Damn, I can't believe Dallas will be getting Felton and Mohammed and all they give up Diop and Stackhouse. They need to be screwed again like the Kidd trade.
An abdominal strain. Nothing serious. I would hate to see the Mavs get away with Felton and Nazr too.
