1. What's the best cable package to get around here? 2. I'm thinking about going to the Tulane vs UT game in New Orleans. Would it be better to go through Tulane or UT for tickets? And, would it be possible for me to find a caravan/bus somehow? 3. I'm taking my fiancee out Friday... what with moving in and law school starting, I haven't had a chance to do much special for her lately. What's a good restaurant I could take her to that's not too pricey? No chains, please... Also, are there any good comedy clubs or something like that around? We both enjoy improv quite a bit... Thanks .
1. I can't say best, because I've only had one. But I'm pretty happy with Time Warner digital cable. Along with roadrunner and premium movie channels, my monthly bill comes to about $130 a month. Very much worth it for the amount of TV I watch and web surfing I do. 2. I have no idea. Sorry. 3. Best comedy club i've been to is on 6th street, its called Esther's Follies. They do a great performance. Capitol City Comedy Club is also decent, as far as comedy clubs go.

I have some friends going and the UT box office was not helpful ('send your money and we'll tell you later if you got tickets'). Tulane was easy. 3. Driskell Grill is great, but probably is too pricey.
1) There are two cable companies in the Austin area, but both do not operate in the same area. Check with your apartment office first. Time Warner is the most popular choice. Second is Grande. Grande sounds like a good deal cause they'll hook you up with phone, cable, and internet. Unfortunately I don't believe Grande Digital carries NBA League Pass. 2) It's too late to buy through the UT ticket office. UT sold out its allotment weeks ago. You can call up the Tulane ticket office or look up Tulane University Football on TicketMaster. 3) I have no idea.
Ooh.. Castle Hill... That is the only restaurant I go to anymore... I hate eating out b/c on my diet I only eat salads w/o meat when I eat at restaurants... Thus most restaurants suck. But Castle Hill has the BEST salads of any place I've been to in my life!
I have satellite (DTV). Don't know. Don't go out to eat anymore since wife doesn't work and now have a kid. Aren't I helpful? Just trying to be polite by responding. Also, haven, Butch Walker=former lead singer/guitarist/songwriter for Marvelous 3. New album is like ReadySexGo part II. You should have it by now.
I might go to that game as well, I'm about 4 blocks from the Superdome right now Has anyone found ticket prices?
Hut's Hamburgers! I agree Castle Hill is a really nice place. I've eaten there once and had a beautiful time. The food was good too!
For dinner, I suggest the Hyde Park Bar and Grill. It's on Duval, right at 42nd Street. Affordable, classy.
Piccolo's Italian Restarant Its at 29th and Rio Grande near UT campus, but is not a normal campus like place. A couple of friends had their rehearsal dinner there last month.
My freshman year at UT, back in (ahem) 1979, I used to hang out at Hut's Hamburgers all the time. They had live music there back then. Do they still have live music? Hut's was the first place I ever saw Charlie Sexton play. At the time, he was about 14 years old, and he was Austin's Rockabilly kid. His band used to be called Little Charlie and the Eager Beaver Boys.
Hmmm, not sure. They definitely didn't have any when I was there, although it was a weekday during lunch. I didn't see any place where a band could fit in there though.
1. Roadrunner's only $29.99 per month for 6 mos. Not a bad deal. 2. They anticipate about 20K Horn fans for the weekend. Book a hotel near the French Quarter. We're staying at the Comfort Suites downtown. Don't bother with a caravan/bus. Do the drive yourself ~ 8.5 hours from Austin, unless you can get cheap airfare through someone like Southwest. Paid $28 a piece for game tickets through the Tulane box office. 3. Good restaurants that aren't too pricey? There's plenty in Austin: www.austin360.com Z-Tejas: authentic southwestern grill Hula Hut: on Lake Austin, try the tubular tacos Clay Pit: contemporary Indian food Romeo's: excellent Italian Mezzaluna: pricey, but good The County Line: best BBQ in America The Oasis: average food, badass view of Lake Travis Thai Passion: downtown, best Thai food in town Glad to be of help...
Vespaio has great atmosphere, the food can be anywhere from inspiring to disappointing. And if your fiance wears heels, have her be careful on their slopped, tiled entry.
