I will be spending the day at my folks place here in Houston with the whole family. I will be eating, drinking, and being merry...in that order. We'll also be drawing names for Christmas gifts (we have a large family). Later that night, we'll leave the kids and old folks and move to my sister's place for post dinner festivities ie. drinking too much. I love Thanksgiving. So what are yooouuu doing?
Going to the Cowboys game, my wife's a Cowboys fan, which has become a tradition of ours. It was just the easiest way of getting out of family commitments.
Deep frying a turkey for the first time. Anybody got a favorite injectable marinade they'd like to share?
My wife and I have family coming just about every weekend in December, we are going to chill out and do NOTHING. I hope it will be everything I thought it could be.
Early thanksgiving with my Grandma here, Late thanksgiving with my wifes' family in Orange TX then drinking heavily when I get home and I'm done with all that driving.
Anyone had a deep-fried turkey before? If so, is it as good as oven roasted turkey? I think my folks will will go deep-fry this yr. I hope its good since I've never had a bad turkey for thanksgiving.
Going over to my parents house to have lunch with the family. We'll probably eat, watch some football, eat dessert, play some board games, and then eat some more. I can't wait!
Fried turkey is awesome! It is, of course pretty bad for you but who cares, right? I just has a really good flavor if prepared correctely
Fried Turkey?? Do you just toss a whole turkey into a big-ass pot of oil? Should the paramedics be on standby? Doesn't it come out greasy? Is this what all the cool kids are doing, because, i've never heard of such a thing. I'm intrigued and scared at the same time...
Going to the in-laws' place in Louisiana. Dinner at a restaurant buffet. No sense in making all that mess when someone else can cook it. We're about to have a whole lot of driving ahead of us... and we have to come back Saturday. Happy "T-Day"... not sure how much Internet access I'll have.
From what I've heard, that is exactly what they used to do. A few years ago everyone was buying home turkey fryers. Of course, they would mess up and catch on fire, etc. There are lots of restaurants that will deep-fry or BBQ your turkey. If I was hosting a dinner, that's what I'd do. Not that expensive if you buy the turkey in advance, and much easier... unless you like to be a cook.
