As everyone including myself have been watching the Rockets early season struggles, there are some thing to be positive about and some that are pretty disturbing. The play of Head has been good even though he's more of a shooting guard in a pg's body. Swift playing like he did in Memphis, showing flashes, but displaying a low bb iq and foul prone and Yao, well, being Yao. Many want to jump off the ship, but i think they are there in terms of play, but adjustemnets have to be made. 1. Get healthy. This team wasn't playing well early because of some early injuries to most notably McGrady. I know Rafer and Sura are out, but McGrady is the closer and thats why this team is losing now. 2. Get help. Personally, i thought the Rox should have super sized their team by getting a player like Al Harrington to play the 3 and move T-Mac back to the 2 which he played all through his tenure at Orlando. Getting a strong post up type of 3 like Harrington forces teams into a quandry, frees T-Mac up and releases Yao from the blks which he's still not confortable with 35mins a night. Prince,Arest, and Bowen doesn't play McGrady if harrington is the 3. He;s also quick enough to play the 3 and can slide and play the 4 also. 3. Open up more. This team will never be Phoenix, but they must either get more open looks or get better half court players. The offense running through Ming in its present state wont work because he cant dominate for 30 mins. If he could, then this team would be alot better. For right now, we as fans have to accept Ming as a better version of say Smits until he gets his stamina up. In the offseason, the rox wanted to get more atheletic and to a certain extent they did, but i thought they did a poor job of using their expiring contracts. I thought a choice of G.Wallace,Harrington, or Raja Bell would have been better than Swift. I really wanted SAR to keep this team out of those scoring droughts, but many on this board thinks he's a player who puts up good numbers on bad teams, which i disagree with. I thought They could play him at the 3 like he did with Zach and force other teams to pick their poison. Harrington who's T-Mac's age is a bull at the 3 and could have done that also. Raja is very, very solid as he's proving and Wallace is a stat stuffer who's getting better and only 23 or 24. We still have time, but the further back we get, the harder it will be.
