    The Thread Talking About It.

    I drive home from the store, and I flip through the stations. I went to 740 AM, and heard Spring Training Astros on. I hear Milo, and I don't hear Ash. Then I remembered that they fired Ashby.

    I think they have one of the new guys on.

    Have you guys heard, and so far, what do you guys think?

    One guy sounds a lot like Ash - his voice, at least. It's hard to judge either one at this point - ask me at the end of the year.

    I still hate Milo though. Every single corny joke makes me want to pull my ears off. He's the old fart in the rest home that nobody wants to visit.

    I don't like Milo anymore either.

    I was in the car listening, and the new dude was talking about the minor league systems, and how beautiful Round Rock and Corpus Christi's park was. And how the Astros have the best parks from the bottom to the top.

    And maybe ten seconds later, Milo busts out with something like, the Astros have fine parks in Round Rock and Corpus Chrsti.

    Milo, retire. k, thx. :)

    I met both guys when they came to do the Radio show here at Live. They both sounded pretty cool and upbeat and knowledgable. I think they will do fine from what i heard on the radio show and the way he presented himself and presented the game of baseball to the lisenters.

    I have yet to hear them do an actual game so i definitly want to hear that before i completly judge them good or bad.

    I thought they were OK. I am not a fan of Milo. Today, he said the Astros next two game will be at MMP. I was like WTF. I also thought it was disrespectful how he blasted Harey Carey when he is died and Dierk.

    **** Milo for forcing Ashby out. Yeah, thats right forced. I'm sure Milo has enough pull that he could have made them keep Ashby if he wanted. The guy doesn't even realize how much he saved his ass the last couple of seasons.

    While, IMO it is still too early to tell, I have listened to a portions of the spring training games and they have sounded pretty good. I still cant tell who is who between, but I guess that will come with time. I do miss ash's player perspective. I hope these guys can bring that same type of insight.

    Best exchange so far:

    Milo asks for a score update in the other split-squad game;
    Raymond says he'll get it;
    Milo asks in all seriousness "What is that thing?"
    Raymond deadpans "It's a computer, Milo."

    I line Milo. He reminds me of Dave Letterman.

    I actually like old people humor.

    I really like Dave Raymond. His humor is hilarious. I was listening to the game yesterday on 790 and really enjoyed their call of it. These guys are a huge improvement over Milo. Thankfully Milo is being phased out.

    Did you guys read Raymond's background? Scored >1500 on his SAT, went to Stanford and was the class president. Sounds like a genius.

    my thoughts too.

    so far i'm trying to keep an open mind about having to hear a different voice from the one i've grown up with.

    it'll be the same when gene peterson is finished.

    I thought the guy sounded like Ashby to. they talk really fast. they definitely are an upgrade in meat and potatos broadcasting, keeping you informed of what's happening on the field.
