you are surely welcome to your opinion, but I heartily disagree.

Listening to the home guys gives you info that the national ones dont have access to since the Rockets announcers are employees of the Rockets and have access to the players and staff that not just anyone gets.

In case you are somehow not aware, Bull is just as knowledable as Kerr, and Bill has been doing Rockets gmaes for as long or longer than Marv...

They know their sh*t when it comes ot the Rockets, and that is all that matters.
All the other BS the national ones bring up during games is rarely about the Rockets and they have no problem squatting all over the game so that you miss plays casue of their stupid interviews and graphics about other teams.

Ill take the Rockets broadcast everyday of the week and 10 times on Sunday.

X's and O's-wise, the local guys are awful.

I like listening to the national guys when we play on national tv, but that usually only lasts for about half of the 1st quarter. Then I switch back to Bill and Matt/Clyde.

The national guys make so many obvious points (like "this team is much better with McGrady on the floor") and overused cliches that I can only handle it for so long. Most of the posters on this bbs know more about the Rockets than the national guys do.

Those were TNT commentators? I thought we had the Cleveland feed for some reason.

I know. The whole game they are talking about how much Cleveland missed Larry Hughes. Though there was a brief mention in there somewhere, they rarely brought up our injuries and seemed to disregard the Rockets as if they are a complete non-factor.

I agreed. Worell, Bullard, Drexler are the ones that watched every game and been following the Rockets for a long time. Barkley seems enjoy bashing the Rockets maybe because Yao made him look like an ass on TV. Besides you got more news on the Rockets than when you watch on TNT. Like showing TMac working out, Yao is gonna be back soon, Rockets having a meal in Yao's restaurant, etc.

That's where we missed Van Chancellor's knowledge of the game.

Kerr's usually pretty good. But he kinda pissed me off by making the the statement that the Rockets have been a low-energy team both this year and last. This year, OK. But last, year...come on man, lets at least get our story straight. The Rockets were a pretty danged high-energy team last year.

Maybe I'm just a tad senstive this year with all this losing :D

I don't really know about tonight because my DVR screwed me and I only got to watch the 4th quarter, but I prefer the TNT guys to the Rockets crew hands down.

Doug Collins is a personal favorite. He understands the X's and O's as well as the emotional/mental side of the game. Love listening to that guy and would love to play for him.

The TNT guys are just higher quality entertainment (Matv and Kerr), but to me the best commentators in all of basketball are Doug Collins and Kevin Harlen, mainly because I love hearing Collins' insight and I always feel like I learn something from hearing him comment about the game/aspects of the game/plays and other 'coach' insights.

IMO, the best thing is having a coach next to a play-by-play 'voice' like a Marv Albrt or a Kevin Harlen or a Bill Worrell, because they take you to school and you learn a thing or two. :)

and kerr only said that after kenny smith pointed out how his absence changes the game for cleveland. kerr blows. as for marv albert, i like him. hands down the best color commentary goes to doug collins, he really knows his x's and o's. (and obviously george blaha if any of y'all up here in detroit... he's a legend). aside from them and kevin harlan, there's really no reason to prefer the national coverage at all.

The thing I dislike most about the national broadcast is that they'll talk about everything except the game that's being played.

They'll talk to Stern. They'll talk to a retired coach. They'll talk to Jack Nickolson. They'll talk to an ex-player. Blah blah blah... they should save all that for a pre-game or post-game show. While the game is being played, they should talk about the game!

I personally liked guys like Jack Ramsey or Hubie Brown that were ex-coaches that really could give you the Xs and Os while staying fairly objective during the course of the game. Albert is a solid play by play guy but Kerr doesn't say very much insightful information as a color guy. You need an old-school coach in there to give us something relevant that the local guys won't throw at you.

I don't understand why the basketball world can't find better analysts. Football seems to have a large supply guys who can break down a game knowledgeably. Or maybe I just dont know football enough to notice if it's junk. But anyway, right now in the NBA Collins and Hubie are the only two first rate analysts on national tv. We gotta do better!

steve kerr still thinks yao ming is winning the all-star balloting because of the chinese internet vote. enough said there...

it's nice to have a change of pace from the locals but i'd rather it be doug collins who is fantastic or hubie brown. i'm not a fan of the kerr/albert combination.

TNT must have an anti-talking about rockets thing going on, but whatever. I think the TNT guys are the most entertaining. I try not to listen to too much of what anyone says on TV to be honest. I want to watch and form my own opinions of what I see and what I think is going on.

Never been a fan of Steve Kerr. Doug Collins and Hubie Brown are my favorites because they understand what they are talking about.

Yeah, we got the short end of that broadcast. Marv Albert has a sheet of stats in front of him to spurt out between his cliches and his hyperboles. Steve Kerr ... don't even get me started.

But I'd take Doug Collins over our local guys any day of the week.

And by the way, Kenny Smith & Charles Barkley were right on the money when they said we're not a great defensive team; we just slow down the pace of the game to limit our opponents' shot attempts. We don't stop 'em very well, we just stop 'em from taking very many shots. That might have been the most insightful thing those guys have said all season.
