Its on New Jersey.com sports section. Richard Jefferson could be traded this offseason? After a disappointing season, Rod Thorn is ready to shake up the roster of the Nets, according to the Record (New Jersey). "I think we're going to do some things to make us better," Thorn said. "I think that's a big part of the challenge. Every year doesn't go great. There have been a lot of teams that have been worse off than we are and have been able to come back." "I look forward to the challenge of trying to get us back where we want to be," Thorn added. It is believed that Richard Jefferson and Marcus Williams could be on Thorn's list of players he would like to move.
I don't trust a guy who gave Vince Carter another 4 years 60M contract even after Carter embarrassed himself in the playoffs last year.
After VC basically dribbled the ball off of himself the last play of the last playoff game last season, I thought for sure that was the last moment for VC as a Net. Paying VC that money should have drawn Thorn a pick slip, but the Kidd trade may have bought him another summer.
They should make New Jersey the new refugee camp for overpaid, overrated stars that are entirely incapable of carrying a team and putting them all on the same team just like they did in Boston. I guess they tried that approach already with Kidd, R Jeff and Vince but it's time to switch things up. There's plenty of Jermaine O'Neal's, Ben Wallace's, Shawn Marion's, Michael Redd's, Andrei Kirilenko's out there. Might as well copy Boston's approach and stick them all on the same team and seeing if something sticks. Hell, it seems to be working for the Lakers too.
i would try to work a deal to send RJ to portland for a couple of young players, then VC to the sixers for capspace and picks, which will result in a LARGE TE, similar to the trade that sent richardson from the warriors to the bobcats for a draft pick.
The only players I want from the Nets are Harris and Sean Williams (Yao's backup). Jefferson is VERY injury prone. I think it's due more to the style he plays. The Rockets have VC in T-Mac. Marcus Williams shows flashes, but I'd rather have Brooks. I can't believe they're going to Brooklyn.
What is the incentive for Portland to get Jefferson? They already have Travis Outlaw and Brandon Roy on more favorable contracts. The Trailblazers had started working on cleaning up their roster & payroll by moving Zach last summer. Aren't they working on a Medical thing for D Miles? Raef is nearing the end of his contract. It is hard to imagine Portland would start loading back up on high paid players like Jefferson after the recent work on streamlining the payroll. What is the incentive for Philly to acquire Vince? They had to get accustomed to playing without A Iverson. They now seem to have established an identity and are moving forward into the Playoffs. Are they a serious threat to win the Eastern Conference? Probably not, but they are making progress. Might need another player, but not sure if it is Vince. Would a Boozer type or a healthy Brand help them more than Vince would? Vince would be the highest paid active player on the roster and it looks like Philly has also been financially prudent lately.
