Thomas Haden Church to play villain in Spidey 3 No word on who he'll play though. Interesting choice, I hope he pulls it off. Before Sideways, I never thought of Church as a good actor. He's made some crappy movies in his time.
it's gotta be Venom!!! can't be Lizard...we already know Dr. Conners. can't be any variation of Goblin...we already know who that would be. any thoughts??
Church played the leader of a super hero group in The Specials and did a great job. Of course that was a comedy so it's not much of an indication of how he'll handle a serious role. Speaking of the Specials, if anybody is interested in seeing a hilarious movie that's a good one to check out. Even though it's about super heros there's no action or fighting involved, it's just about a group of super heros on an off day and dealing with each other. It was a pretty low budget film but the acting (Rob Lowe, Church, and Jamie Kennedy being the most famous) and writing are top notch. And it's also got a bunch of great one liners in it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181836/
This article was posted at some sites yesterday, but has since been taken down: http://www.pressconnects.com/saturday/lifestyle/stories/li031905s155196.shtml In it, they interview a guy named Tim Phoenix who does special effects for movies. The article says he's on Spidey 3 and that he can't talk much about it, but then the article says his team is working on concepts for Man-Wolf (Jameson's son, Mary Jane's fiance in the last one) and Venom. Some guy registered on the SuperHero Hype message board and claimed he was Tim Phoenix and that the article twisted his words. He claimed he wasn't officially on Spidey 3 but competing for the job and that he never mentioned any villains. The sites that posted the story all took it down, probably after Sony contacted them or something. Of course that doesn't tell you if the info was right or wrong, but if it was completely false, there would have been a straight up denial from Sony IMHO. My guess, if that guy on the message board was the real Phoenix, is that he's trying to get the job and the people competing for it are coming up with concepts for the chosen villains. Spilling the beans might cost him the job and he's doing damage control. In the comics, there's no connection to Venom and John Jameson, but in the cartoon, Jameson finds the alien symbiote on the moon and brings it back to earth. I'm wondering if they could get away with Man-Wolf though. I mean, an alien that becomes a costume is already way out there, but the way Jameson turns into Man-Wolf is by finding a crystal on the moon that turns him into a werewolf.
that would be cool if the villian was venom, but to do the whole spidey vs venom plot justice i think the movie would have to be at least 3.5 hours long or split into two movies. i cant see raimi being able to squeeze in everything in under 3 hours and have it retain all of the story
Never heard of this movie before ( I guess it had limited release or something), but it sounds pretty funny. I'll have to check it out.
i know. this is among my dorkiest things. i grew up loving the spiderman comics because of the character of Peter Parker...and now i love the movies.
I'll also add...in my defense...it helps to have a 5 year old son who gets excited about this as well!
Then that would be like this: Or maybe that's THANK YOU upside DOWN... oh, never mind... you get what I mean.
Try Spongebob/Spiderman/Hulk/Incredibles/Star Wars/YuGiOh/Teen Titans/Static Shock/STB FF... And that's just me! j/k although I can sit and watch all of those without missing a beat...
