I knows the teams' strengths are very different, but rebuilding schedule-wise, arent the rockets going along the path as the mavs? two years ago, the mavs were pretty crappy, last year they showed a lot of potential and even entertained slim playoff hopes (until they got rodman). I cant remember their record but it was..well..not as bad as usual... This year they are in the playoffs somewhere in the middle of the pack. The Rockets seem to be going along that same path - just one year later... ------------------ "It's finger ling ling good!" - Homer Simpson's opinion of Kentucky Fried Panda
All we need is for Langhi to become the next Dirk Norwitski (sp)! Honestly the Mavs have a better core group of players than we currently do. The only players I see on our current roster as good players to build around are Cat & Stevie. Dream is playing nice but he may have one year left, Anderson has been a disappointment, Cato is a piece of crap, Moochie is a nice NBA backup, Mo has potential but he doesn't match up well vs all the great PFs in the West. Collier and Langhi seem like they may become decent players but again probably not someoen you build a franchise around. Now look at the Mavs. They have Finley who has become a nice player, Dirk is playing awesome this year, and adding Howard was a good move. Nash is also playing very well for them. They've assembled a very nice team. So we do have a nice young core (Cat & Stevie) but they will need help. We need an inside presence to become a real playoff threat.
The Mavs have sucked for years and are just now getting good. Their rebuilding plan has been awful. I sure hope the Rockets don't follow their path.
I prefer to think that we resemble the Magic from last year, which means we will get a great draft pick and one stud free agent.
also, the mavs are 1/2 game from taking the 4th seed from the Lakers, and 1 game back from the Utah's 3rd seed. I wouldn't call them middle of the pack. Also, as anyone notice Portland is now a 1/2 game away from the 7th seed!!!!!!!!!!! 1 1/2 games away from Dallas.
I remember last year everyone was of the mind that FINLEY was the ONE STAR in dallas Dirk stepped up this year and Nash is looking better Rocket River ------------------
Not everyone. I've thought Nowitski was awesome for a while now. Nash did come out of nowhere though. I think his team playing well has really done wonders for his game. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I agree 100%. It all started with our upper management, and awful coaching. The previous management gave up on Kidd too fast. The only good thing the previous management did was get Don Nelson in here. After they traded Kidd they brought in Nelson, and Nelson traded every one else except Finley (Who we got for Kidd). Nelson basically had a five year plan, and has made some mistakes but basically has us one year ahead of HIS plan. You guys are in better shape than the MAVS were because you have better management, and already have a Hall of Fame Coach. The MAVS could not commit to a system until Don Nelson. I think as long as your team sticks to it's rebuilding plan you should be in pretty good shape. Getting another Superstar wouldn't hurt either. ------------------ http://www.rapmusic.com/texasg/NewMavsLogo1.jpg
To become the next Mavericks will take some work. The Rockets need two stars. Chances are they'll get a decent FA. Then they need a decent rookie willing to do the dirty work. Chris Webber would be scary in a Rockets uniform. I doubt it'll happen, i see him staying in Sacramento, but who really knows... ------------------
hp, Didn't Orlando get two stud free agents? ------------------ Hike up your skirt a little more, and show the world to me.
