Write it down. This is Morey's best chess move yet. Landry was overrated because we didn't have any go to players to begin with. Landry's rebounding numbers were falling. Team's have figured him out by doubling him early. T-mac equals nothing for our team. Just 7 million off the books in the summer. Can't get anything with that without having to let Scola and/or Lowry walk. Sergio Rodriguez is no joke. I really hope we keep him. He has a lot of talent and can excel down here in Adelman's system. Hilton Armstrong is very underrated. He can be a very serviceable player. Not to Not to mention that him and Thomas are expiring after this season. So basically we are trading for a starter that can create for himself in the clutch. Someone who goes to the line 10 plus times a night. Someone who know's the system that Adelman has. This was an amazing trade. Morey is a genius. Please stop valuing players like your own kid. Your own kid is always better than that other kid. It doesn't mean its true.
I agree that some people waaaay overvalue Landry. He is a great post player no question, but he's not Bosh or KG. Since McGrady wasn't even viewed as a decent player in this trade, it was basically Martin for Landry. We lose a great player in Landry, but we get an excellent shooting guard back, not to mention we still have Scola! People really gotta stop overvaluing our players.
this trade is not favorable at all unless we recieve jordan hill. our bigman rotation will be the worst in the league if he is not included. not saying that hes amazing(yet), but i truly beleive that the dude has got major potential and can fill great minutes at pf or center. right now im still leting it soak in (dont love the trade but certainly dont hate it), but if we get jordan hill i will like it!! Miss you Landry  (that's carl's smile)
I agree. People love hating here. Landry was slipping big time. He wasn't effective at all when the defense starting focusing a lil more on him.
I am hating losing him but I agree on the over rated... We have seen how he struggles once teams trying to clamp down on him. All the Kings fans are saying he has great D, little they know he was often a defensive liability. Still though would love to have him here still.
Battier goes to the bench. I don't know what this obsession is with sending Ariza to the bench, the one game we miss the guy we get wallysmackedbamsmashed. The guy has a positive impact on this team...he started for championship team! This will just take pressure off Ariza to score. Also people forget the Rockets also have one of the best players in the NBA. His name is Yao. If he returns to this form Kmart-Aaron Brooks is a scary backcourt along with Yao. Two guys you don't want to leave open, and Scola alongside Yao is another guy you have to worry about... Battier comes in and does his intangible thingy for the bench.
the only thing worries me is that KMart could be as injury prone as T-Mac, i love his game i really do but i seriously doubt we would be seeing a different MM combo in H-Town for the years to come. i still cannot believe we are sending Mandry away...
The more I think about this trade the more I convince myself that this trade was the right trade. I think it has to do with how Landry got shut down by Milsap the other night. And with that being said, making a deep playoff push in the future you will need either a strong 4 to go against the other bigs in the West or a strong 2. And I think that Kevin Martin will make us better then Landry would've with Yao coming back next year.
Good post. Before this trade, it was most of the people in this forum that felt Morey was overvaluing our own players and not willing to trade them for a legit 2 that can score 20.
I agree this could be a good one! First off, I really like Carl Landry but Wing scorers like Martin are HARD to find. His injuries scare me a little BUT... 15pt PF like Landry (Milsap, Bass (per min., etc...) are EASIER to find. PF like Jamison, Harrington, etc...can drop 30-40 and Landry can't. Landry needs the ball thrown to him. Kevin Martin does not. Landry can't score over a double team. Martin can score anytime he feels like it. In the 4th, they started doubling Carl. In the 4th, they can't double Martin. When you need a score, Kevin Martin can do it! If we had Martin earlier this year, I'd add about 4-5 more wins. Where would be if we had 4-5 more wins? I think Sergio Rodriguez is a good player and is going to be a fine Knick - let's see what happens but at least we know this.... ...we have a guy who can drop 30-40 on any night. He can score big and we needed two things and just got one: a SCORER who can LIGHT IT UP! Next up, let's get Rubio and a big man! Right?
