this team has 4 weaknesses and i see them being filled. slowly, but surely.

    1. perimeter defense - how many times did opposing guards get into the paint, get yao in foul trouble, drive and kick to an open 3pt shooter?

this is being taken care of. hopefully the rockets land MJ. James, tmac, and shane should provide AT LEAST average perimeter defense, which would be a HUGE improvement.

    2. shooting - how horrible was it to see yao get tripple teamed, kick it out, only to have open missed shots every night?

with shane, novak, and hopefully james, this is taken care of. with tmac back, these guys will be even more open.

    3. post defese - Jho gets taken to school, and stro let people go by him.

this is yet to be discussed really, but we need a 4 who can guard 4's. not a banger rebounder, not a shooter, just a guy who can guard other 4's. this is of great importance in the west.

    4. depth - no, we have no real assets, but we are filling out the roster nicely.

yao and deke can handle the center possition. tmac, shane, novak, and head can more than handle the wing. alston, and hopefully james can more than handle the point. like i said before, i'm still worried about the PF possition, however, shane and hayes can handle defending the quick 4's, rebounding and shooting. we could use one guy who will be a legit, starting 4.

overall hopefully we sign james who will help a lot. but there are others who can do what he does. B.jackson is one of them who could be had for less than MLE money. we will have a solid defensive team which JVG will turn into a great defensive team. we will have a great scoring team with yao, tmac, and a bunch of guys who can really shoot. we will have some depth and versitility.

lets get MJ and then use the TE on a PF!!!! pray for health and there will be no stopping us. believe it.

^^ Another problem is Rockets need an assistant offensive coach. I have doubt in JVG on that department, defense he is great but not offense.

As much as I hate beating a dead horse and have stopped long ago hoping for Badiane to emerge, if Badiane plays in the summer leagues, he might be one to follow - especially, if all you're looking for is someone to guard 4's. This was the most recent article I could find on him so far (12/12/2005), and it sounds better than I expected:

Bwahahaha. I read this for a second and couldn't figure it out. Then I thought you were talking about George Ming. And I was like, "Hey. What's wrong with Yao's dad." :p

Yeah, it figured it out: G.M.-ing

    JBC,DQ here,too funny!
In a serious vein,I have to disagree though.....Have you lost that ole faith in CD,man?..no more blind faith,eh? ROTFLMAO
smoothie,at PF,I'd rather see an interior defense AND rebounding guy.I know we need perimeter defense, but we should have enough versatilty to take care of their PF,s on the outside...(One of Battier's specialties)

    I strongly agree with 3.

Battier is not a solution for 4. We have to get someone to guard TD, etc
