It's hard to admit it but I don't think there's any way we win this series. Hatred of Golden State doesn't fix the problems in this team. And going into the playoffs there was a lot of optimism even though we were playing them (they had 15 straight wins against us at one point). That optimism was misguided. The thought that our youth would run them out of the gym was faulty. 1) GSW controlled the outcome for most of the contest. I'm really glad we didn't roll over and die, but that doesn't change the fact that we were out of this game in the second quarter. Even when we were close at the end I never felt like we would win. And that's because we fought to get there due to that massive deficit and wouldn't have enough in the tank at the end. 2) We went into the playoffs knowing our weaknesses. Those came out in full force in the first game and now people are surprised. We know we can't shoot FTs. We know we can't shoot 3 pointers. These weren't going to magically change because of the playoffs. 39% and 20% and 55% aren't going to get it done. Offensive dry spells have been our kryptonite all year. Making us shoot from outside is the way to stop us and all teams know that. 3) We destroyed them on the offensive boards but still got crushed. Our TOs were awful. But, MOST IMPORTANTLY, GSW played a mediocre game and destroyed us. They built that lead easily after our hot start because our offense doesn't work. We've been b****ing about this all season but then the playoffs come and we think it's going to change. This is where the whole "I like this team let's learn in the playoffs" is challenged. This team isn't a winning team (in the playoffs) and now we're all going to be mad because we just now realized it. Winning in the regular season and the playoffs are two different things. GSW shot fewer free throws than us. That might not happen again all series. Draymond did nothing, he didn't even need to get pissy or punch people's balls. What happens when they get more FTs, Draymond starts kneeing people, and GSW is at home? Jimmy played great but I think Curry's performance was just average for him. If he plays well, we're done. I think we claw out a victory next game. Maybe we win big because GSW knows the pressure is off. Then they have two straight home games and I don't see any reason to think we'll win either of those (even if we win by 10+ next game). GSW at home is going to be too much. So if this happens, then we're down 1-3 and have to win 3 straight. Nope. GSW in 5 or 6. This isn't to say I'm not happy that we fought for a #2 seed and that we played great all season. We have promising players but some of them don't fit. Make the tough decisions in the off season and reshape the team offensively.
It was over when we drew golden state. We stand in the way of LeBron vs Steph. Refs won't let us win, probably warriors in 6
I’m more optimistic now than I was before. We were in control pretty much for the entire first quarter. Played dumb (turn overs) in the second quarter. Came back from 24 down in the second half. Got within 4 but played dumb again by not getting Alpi the ball and the guards taking dumb shots. If we learn from our dumb mistakes I think we can outmuscle and out run them off the court.
Only first game where there was a lot of playoff jitters and terrible shooting, only down by 10 cause of some insane Curry 3's and only down 5 or so with about 4 mins in the clock. I'd say you're over reacting.
I don't disagree with most of your points but AKSHUALLY a series cannot be over before 4 games have been played! Let's hope they got their nerves out of the way and they can at least be semi-competitive.
Is this a jinx thread? Curry scored 31 and was hitting insane three point shots over excellent defense. If that was an average game for him he would be MVP lol.
First year this team is in the playoffs and only FVV has any real deep playoff experience. We don't have a superstar yet but we managed to get the two seed even with clear deficiencies on offense. Rockets are in line for yet another top 10 draft pick this year as well to add to our core. Things are looking up even if we don't manage to win this series but I wouldn't count the guys out. We have a championship level coach who will have our players ready for Game 2. JG and FVV need to step up, end of story. We not paying them for nothing.
Do not be celebrating when we comeback n win this series. Game 1 shows that we can in fact keep up with warriors
I still think it either goes to 6 or 7. Without the wing defenders, might be a 5 game series but I think this bothers GSW some.
