I have always detested the Lakers. Shaq with his plowing through people and lack of finesse. Kobe with his arrogant attitude and his demeanor. Phil with his Zen crap and riding of the coattails of another talented team to the championship.

Fisher with his crappy game, flopping and acting skills. Rick Fox not far behind him in that respect.

I detest the Lakers and I always have.

To add Gary Payton and Karl Malone. Gary Payton of the 90's Sonics that knocked us out of the Playoffs on multiple occasions and ended our championship run. Gary Payton, one of the people that ran George Karl's illegal zone to 4 on 1 and limit Hakeem Olajuwon from having any space. Gary Payton with his big mouth and the pain of defeat we felt from his teams.

Karl Malone. The man that Hakeem Olajuwon told to "Get up and act like a man" after one of his famous FLOPS. The consumate whiner and crybaby that falls to the floor if 6'2 180# skinny point guards bump into him. Karl Malone, who bear hugged Clyde Drexler and on the pick and roll to allow Stockton to knock us out of the playoffs in 1996.

Now that they couldn't win a title, they come to LA to form a super team to win it all. I want Karl Malone and Gary Payton to retire without a title. I want the Lakers of this Year to Lose and lose bad.

I would give anything for the Rockets to be the one to do so. I will spend my time this season rooting for the Rockets to win every game and for the Lakers to lose every game.

Yeah, both the lakers and Malone really sold out this time. Malone, who's been L.A's rival for almost 20 years, who's prolly put several of their players in the hospital. The guy who spoke out against Magic during his comeback. The man who is challenging Kareem for the scoring record. And the lakers just accept him with open arms because their talented team got their butts kicked in the playoffs last year. Hell, Magic even offered to let Malone wear his number 32. They're all a bunch of sellouts.

Malone and Payton can win their rings, but it wont be the same as MJ's Kobe's Shaqs etc... Jumping on to a team like the Lakers and winning will not be impressive. In my mind Payton and Malone will always have the label of 'not being able to put a team over the top'.

    Great post, Khan.

This is an unholy amalgamation of the teams Rockets fans have hated over the years. Jackson, Payton, Shaq, Malone... all they're missing is Scottie Pippen and Danny Ainge.

But this will only serve to make their failures sweeter.

What did Danny Ainge do... Was it in the playoffs?

Danny Ainge Threw the ball right at Elie's head as Game 3 of the 94 playoffs was ending. Plus, Ainge burned the Rockets many times during the 86 finals.

yeah, you can't buy good defense... unless you're kobe.

    oh that was mean.

Screw it, I live in Southern California and all i've heard for the past 4 years is how much the Lakers rule. Well I'm going to milk this cow until it's dry.

The Houston Rockets RULE, my friends.

    • The Rockets went to LA to conquer the Lakers,
The mighty Lakers? how would they win?
I brought to the game a bottle of gin
Jack Nicholson brought an Olsen Twin

I looked up in the rafters and saw all the banners
the number shocked me like a Laker fan's manners
I saw Baylor, Kareem, and Magic, and West
I knew that the Rockets were up to the test
We'll play defense... I know we'll be winnin!
We take the good shots, right from the begginin'
like ABC cameras on full-figured women!

The 1st Quarter was starting, Shaq and Yao in the circle...
I'm surounded by morons in yellow and purple...
the game is starting! the crowd gets excited
I'm watching the Rockets, of course I'm delighted
The game is half over, tied at the break.

Payton's Trash Talk, Malone and his flops... what a Faker
Its a wonder to me why he hadn't always been a Laker.
To start the 3rd quarter, the Rocks come out like Thunder
Steve's burying more treys than a paranoid Butler.
Yao's giving Shaq fits, He tries to stay calm
He's been rejected more times than a nerd at the prom

The Game is over, the fans clear their seats
      Victory! we've made the defeat.
Now what is the moral of this story you ask?
Well... The Rockets rule.. and the Lakers SUCK ASS.

Darn it... too late to put this one on the One-Liner http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66835 thread... good one.

Anyway... what's so wrong about saying someone sucks? I bet they win the West, but someone with real HEART shows them the Playoffs are another season...

    Go ROCKETS!

you know what, people always criticize players for valueing money over the ring, and how players would never sacrifice money for a championship and that they are all greedy mothers, and when a couple of players do sacrifice money for the chance at a ring, they turn around and call them sellouts. what the hell? its a damned if you do, and damned if you don't situation.

I'm not even referring to money, really. They are sellouts to me because they have been rivals of the lakers for so long, and then just join them to ride the coattails of others. Sometimes you gotta have principles. As a Rocket fan, it would make me sick to accept Malone on my team, even though he would probably make the team better. It's just not right. It would be like Reggie Miller joining the knicks or something. if the knicks were good, that is. It is for these reasons that i respect Stockton, Miller, and even Jordan more than Malone and Payton.

Maybe the Rox can meet them in the first round of the playoffs, if things work out right (Lakers start slowly or get bored and end up 3rd seed) or wrong (Rox only get into 8th spot).

Lots of scenarios, but a Rockets playoff year could lead to a pretty great matchup in the first round.

Anyone watch the Kings/Lakers game last night?

It was the first I saw of the new look Lakers, and I wasn't really all that impressed. As far as L.A. goes, I think Malone is going to help their team out...but Payton is a different story. He still looks like he wants to dominate the ball, and that is definitely not what that team needs.

If Payton can buy into the team concept, then I think they might go somewhere, but right now he looks like a negative force on that team.

I hope Rockets force laker a game 7 tripple OT in the first round(or second round), then some other teams like spurs can finish it off.

I didn't realize that Utah has a bitter rivalry over the last 20 years. Is that as big of a rivalry as the Rockets-Raptors?

Every player's dream is to win a title, not have a stubborn attitude towards rivals.

I'm sorry that is a fact of sports.
