I just have a confidence that we will make the Playoffs I just got the Feeling we will SHOCK THE WORLD I don't know. . . I just got that feeling Rocket River
Bad seasons can be special too. The only reason the Spurs have a dynasty now is because they have Tim Duncan... and the only reason they have Tim Duncan is because David Robinson had a severe back unjury in the 1996-97 season, and they had a terrible record because of it. I'm not saying that we'll get a blue-chip prospect in the draft that will one day be a MVP... but bad seasons due to injury can have a way of working out best in the long-run.
You got that feeling at almost the exact same time this horrible news came out, so that can only mean one thing: Yao Ming and the Rockets will SHOCK THE WORLD, only getting stronger as McGrady returns with a fresh back just in time for the playoffs! I'll believe that at least through the next 6 losses.
If Yao is able to lead the Rockets into the playoffs without T-Mac that confidence gained will carry on over to the next season. There is no need to tank yet provided that Yao kicks that monkey named Rasho off his back in the next game and Rockets win.
When both Yao and T-Mac were out we played hard even through all the losing. The players can't start feeling sorry for themselves. Injuries are an unfortunate part of life. The true character of the team and especially of Yao Ming will be revealed during the rest of the season. I don't expect miracles nor do I expect us to make it to the playoffs now but I want them to give 100 percent every night no matter how hard it gets.
On the other hand if Yao can carry this Titantic into the playoffs, well, you gotta start thinking about how good he is going to be and you have to start thinking of him along the same lines as some of the greats of the game.
If we can make the playoffs without Mcgrady, then the season will be special indeed. Time for Yao version 4.4* to put the entire team, coaches, management, organization, city on his back and carry us to the playoffs. It shouldn't be too tough, he's had an entire country on there for over 3 years now. * Ver 4.1 = Yao at the beginning of his 4th year- Good, but not great. Ver 4.2 = Yao after his surgery but before the All-star break- Extremely good. Ver 4.3 = Yao after the all-star break- Mind-blowing. Ver 4.4 = Yao after hearing that T-mac will be out 5 weeks- Time will tell.
Well, seems my input in the movie title thread is still apt. Optimistic: Die Hard. Yao carries us despite multiple scars and wounds into the playoffs. Pessimistic: King Kong. The giant tries hard but comes up short, fades into oblivion and ends up like that big monkey.
Yao needs to be unbelievable. Play 40+ minutes, Shaq prime stats and the rest of scrubs need to hit all open shots. I think the latter is almost impossible. Yeah, we will make the playoff without Tmac.
If we make it into the playoffs, Yao must get some serious, serious consideration for MVP. Hell, given our remaining schedule, if we make it, I'd bet serious money on him being the FINALS MVP.
Maybe I missed the memo - I do not see any Tim Duncan in this draft. That point is a non starter. The Celts had a crappy season that same year and they ended up with Chauncy billups version 1.0
If that happens, I would start to think trading anyone not named Yao in order to make a push for a championship. (Yes, that includes Tracy).
Well, Yao's been making everyone eat crow, and with Tracy being out now; tis really time to back this up: "I know my job," Yao said. "I know what our team needs me to do, to score, rebound, guard people, guard penetrations. I know who I am. I know what I need to do.". Gwaaan big fella, do what you need to do and carry us till Tracy gets back. I have faith in ya.
