The offense evolves a bit throughout the season but feels like it has hit its stride Haven’t checked but feels like we are shooting better as well.
Running through Sengun and Jalen more has taken our offense to another level. Were getting into sets quicker. FVV is noticeably backed off and only takes steps in when neither Sengun or Jalen have it going.
Jalen Green, Cam Whitmore, and FVV are lighting it up as the Rockets have gone with a more offensive lineup.
I'd say Green and Amen are more on ball. I would not say FVV only steps when neither Sengun and Jalen have it going. I think FVV and Amen are working with Jalen and Sengun probing the defense. The attack is more varied and whether FVV is attacking or not depends more on when the defense cracks during a specific play.
9th in offensive efficiency while having a team ranked 25th in FG% and 28th in 3 point percentage it’s time to give Ime his respect
The amount of FVV shot attempts has dropped significantly to start the year. I haven’t check his usage but I’m sure that’s down too. Amen is playing on ball more but not that much. Most of his damage is off ball or open court action.
taking the ball out of FVV's hands has been a god send. the next evolution is letting Alp be more of a facilitator.
The offense is going to look good when Jalen's been absolutely on fire. Amen is a great fit with the starting unit because he pushes the pace, gets us second chance opportunities with his rebounding, and is an additional playmaker. Cam has also been great off the bench, giving us 12ppg on 42.6% shooting from three since he came back into the rotation. When Tari and Jabari come back our team is going to be even more dangerous.
There is a big difference in FGAs dropping and only stepping in when two players are not effective. FVV's catch and shoot FGAs is only up ~33% and his pull up shooting is only down ~33%. Y'all make it sound like FVV has become JSJ or Brooks. FVV is on ball a lot less, but it is more likely about a third of his on ball workload has been reduced. Y'all make it sound like FVV has become JSJ or Brooks.
I wouldn't say FVV is stepping back either. But the steep drop of his FGA has to mean that something about the offense has drastically changed. Maybe Jalen's surge in the past couple of weeks lets FVV feel less obligated to take shots. Maybe Amen's activities replacing Jabari's somewhat passivity makes it easier to make passes rather than being forced to shoot.
I'd say a lot has changed with the offense. Most significantly, Jabari getting the ball was usually the end of a possession or at best him passing it out for FVV to restart things. Amen has added a connective spock. Passes between Sengun, Amen, FVV, and Green have typically been creating advantages or at least maintain any advantage a previous action has created lately. Skilled players working together. Brooks has not been up to snuff with the ball movement. He's kind of like Jabari in that he either ends a possession or the offense has to reset. Hopefully, this works it way out playing more with Amen. Maybe he just cold AF and it will look better when he's shooting better. I'd say seeing early returns with FVV-Green-Amen-Sengun on the court has not looked good for either Brooks or Jabari. Cam has been a possession ender as well, but it is mostly in that he puts himself in a good spot to take advantage of advantages created by others. He's constantly either dragging a defender out, open behind the arc, or moving inside and providing a good target for a pass.
Has no one actually done a vid demonstrating our Princeton Offense, yet? ofc, no NBA team runs the same half court set the whole game, but Princeton (particularly the Point Series) is a significant part of our half court offense. Even without Sengun. and this has been going on for quite awhile, like Coach is installing it in bits and pieces.
