I didn't watch the videos (too long), but I'm a fan of shows like Cops and I'm always amazed by people who do not understand they have the right to be silent. Not only to be silent, but to have an attorney present during questioning. The police have to leave you alone if you invoke your right to an attorney. If you only invoke silence, they can come back to badger you later.

    You lazy bums. ;)

He said there is nothing good that can come out of talking to police. Even if you are telling the truth and completely innocent, you never know what evidence they actually have... so something you say can be used to convict you.

In other words, keep your mouth shut until trial.

Cliffs are that cops can manipulate w/e you say and always use it against you. Also there has never been a time that what you say to the cops has helped you in court. Shows numerous ways that cops try to *** you over and majority of the time if you just shut your mouth you'll walk away free, but ppl are just too stupid..

Just watch part 1 if you have time, its well worth the watch.

I have some personal questions in case I get pulled over by a cop.

    1. Say I have alcohol in my trunk, and a cop pulls me over for a traffic violation. And he asks if he can search my car, are there any consequences if I say no? I am 17 btw.

    2. If I am having a party, and a neighbor or someone calls the cops saying we are too loud. What can I do if the cops show up at the door? Do I talk to them, refuse to open the door? Don't they need a search warrant to come inside. However, I've heard plenty of times when talking to the cops help someone out in this situation because some cops aren't interested in arresting you, they just want everyone to be quieter.

    1. Well you can say no, but most likely if he has probable cause he'll get a warrant and search your car. (if you smell drunk)

    2. You open the door and step in front of the door and dont let them come in. I went to a high school party last weekend, we had alcohol, by the time the cops came everyone was inside and there was no sign of alcohol in the yard or anything. When the cops came i slightly opened the door (i didnt smell like bozz), and asked them if they needed anything. They said a neighbor complained that we were drunk and loud music, I said we'll turn down the music and I closed the door on them. What could they do? Nothing. If i left the door open and invited them it would've been a different story.

Its much much easier to get a warrant to search your car then it is to search your house.

pretty much what astro said, if they want to talk to you, say "I would like to remain silent - I have nothing to say -

Everything you say (or allow) will be held against you in a court of law, you don't have to let them unless they have warrant, and you don't have to ask any questions. Because, most cases, anything you say will be highlighted in trial, even if it is an innocent confession.

So on question 1, he will keep you pulled over until he gets a search warrant? How long does that take anyway?

On question 2, lol does that really work? You just closed the door on them? They didnt ring the doorbell again or anything? Or ask where your parents are, or whose house this is, or how old you are?

    <<---Police officer.

You don't need a warrant to search a vehicle. It's considered mobile. A house, you do need a warrant unless exigent circumstances exist.

In a search incident to arrest, police may search the passenger compartment of the arrested person's car, even opening containers they find there, the Supreme Court decided in 1981's New York v. Belton.
