    Notice how your numbers are always multiples of 9. Notice how all the multiples of 9 are the same symbol.............

    Try it with a few different numbers...you will find it's always the same symbol...it is just a trick. But quite a clever one though.

    Yeah...but no matter what two digit number you choose, it will be a multiple of 9 after you do the subtraction. Thats what he meant..
