This is where I went to Junior High school... 8th grader dies after shooting herself at school Copyright 2001 Houston Chronicle An eighth-grader died today after shooting herself at Kleb Intermediate School in the Champion Forest area, investigators say. Harris County Sheriff's spokesman Robert Van Pelt reported the girl brought a handgun with her to school this morning, locked herself in a stall in an empty second-floor bathroom and shot herself. A teacher discovered the student still alive and crawled over the top of the stall to reach her. She was transported to Northwest Medical Center Hospital, where she died shortly after noon. School officials said the girl's parents had been notified. The incident occurred during second period at Kleb. Students were initially detained in those classrooms but later released to go to their next classes. The school, on Louetta near Steuber Airline in northwest Houston, has not dismissed classes but is allowing parents to pick up their children.[/i] ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Dam Clutch! That is sad! My wife went to KLeb and Klein. What on earth could posses an 8th grader to shoot herself???? So sad! ------------------ Everything you do, effects everything that is.
My mom teaches at Klein High and she called me up an hour ago and told me about it. Really sad stuff [This message has been edited by Band Geek Mobster (edited April 03, 2001).]
Jr. High. Guns... I hate 'em. ...and yes, she could've used anything, but save your gun control debates. I don't care. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? What a horrible tragedy. Eighth grade? So young... ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
Very Sad. So young. ------------------ Nice guys finish last ... and im surely not going to finish last!
Oh waaaaa. You'll get over it. She won't. Pardon me if I've offended gun owners with my statement. I was just stating my opinion. Let's not turn this into a gun debate. There's something seriously wrong when kids' only recourse today is to blow their heads off. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? I agree I remember 8th grade I had some issues some problems but nothing. . . .NOTHING that could come to this I wonder what was going on in her life I just wish someone could have reached out to her . . . *sigh* there are people out there willing to help but we get so caught up in the marginal kids that we for get about the mainstreamers sometimes. [marginal means the 'bad kids' and the super 'good kids' get all our attention] Rocket River ------------------
That's the same thing I asked myself, but I know I look back at the things that made me emotional as a teenager and laugh at most of them now. Broken heart, bad grades, etc. I know a lot of people get to the "I can't take it anymore point" and their only recourse is to kill themselves -- by whatever means, be it guns, poison, whatever. If any of you under-20 people out there are going through hell, talk to somebody. If you've broken up with someone or someone's broken your heart, it's just not worth it. Ten years later you'll be looking back and laughing or will have learned a good lesson. I know, I've been through it. There's nothing in this world worth taking your life over. Don't succumb to pressures... suicide is not an escape, it's just admitting defeat. Don't do it. I lost one good friend as a teenager because he got bad grades. No kidding. As morbid as it may sound, I'm curious as to what may have caused her to do this, too. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? Clutch Thanks for posting this. As terrible and sad as it it. It will sure make me hug my little one twice as hard tonight. My prayers go out to this child's family. ------------------ "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen" -Hudson
This is happening far too often. I remember jr. high was rough, but I always assumed things would get better. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? Very very sad. I too remember stuff that freaked me out in junior high. The key is that I had someone I could talk to about it. Communication solves all issues. Kids feel like they have no one to turn to, and that is the biggest tragedy of all. ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
