and came as a surprise for me. I am surprised by how 'tradtiona' or 'conservative' yao's way of thinking is.

H-tow Rox fans should be happy though: if yao stick to this mindset, he is not going to go anywhere after his roockie's contract is over. he will just stay in huston.

below is yao's post on his own bbs:

    Titel: Life in the NBA

Moochie was packed away in a trade, we all feel sad about it.

I remember that last year, that was this reporter who was following Bater¡¯s rookie season in Denver, he (the reporter) mentioned that he saw Howard, who was just traded from Dallas to Denver, after the end of a game, not even having a home to stay, standing on the street with the chilling wind blowing, looking a cab to go to the hotel (the hotel he was living since he has not found a place to stay). That trade was done in such a hurry, Howard did not even the time to find a place to live (among other things).

I also recall that last year when Kenny was traded, I had this scary thought in my mind: it¡¯s like you stand by helplessly, watching someone dying, slowly, you know that you are no the one who is dying, but still, you just feel scared. This year, when I came back from china, (I found that) many teammates from last year¡¯s squad had been released or traded, I already started to feel uncomfortable about it, but at least those guys left when I was still in china, so I felt somehow less bad since I did not see them leaving. But this time, Moochies was traded, right under my eyes, I really do not feel good.

But frankly, at least I felt better than last year (when I learned that story of Howard), maybe I am starting to more or less get used to it. We Chinese used to ¡®zhong lao yi sheng¡¯ (that is a saying in Chinese, roughly means to work hard for wherever you are, devote yourself to it, do not leave, until you retire there), an idea I more or less agreed with. But now, (after witnessing all those trades in NBA), I can only comfort myself by thinking of another Chinese saying (a saying from the cultural revolution time in china), which is: you are just a brick, wherever the Party (communist party) want your to be, you have to be there. (sounds tough but) yeah, this is the life in NBA, you just have to live with it.

    May moochie happy in NYC.

I'm sure Yao's got a soft heart but I think he's more shocked by the ease with which these trades are made and the lack of group loyalty. The thought that a team would trade someone before they even have a chance to find a house probably seems very surprising to someone where the group both defines who you are and provides for you. Something that both Communism and traditional Asian culture emphasizes.

Also you work for and loyal to the team for life - that is the Asian culture. If you don't believe it, you simply look at how traditional Japanese work for their company, usually starting from their school days to retirement!

I'm not sure I want to know how you came to that determination.

This shows what a typical sentimental Shanghai man Yao Ming is, not expected by me, though. Everybody has his own Yin and Yang, but Yao expresses that publicly, which a lot of ya think funny. All rite, the good side: the reason yaoming adapts himself quickly to NBA: openness and good at personal communication: Semi-bad side: yao ming showed hes soft in the game frequently, he was too kind, too like an exchange student. This comes from his cultural identity: petty bourgeoisie from big Shanghai.

Obviously, Yao Ming knows this: Fine on-court basketball is brocade, off-court wit is flower. Flowers only shines brocade, but if no brocade, flowers are meaningless. That's what he learned from the trade.

Hopefully, better game for him in H-town. wah, I can't keep myself thinking of him staying in this team is waste of his talent and time.......sign

Its not that funny .. maybe you can add something to it like... "I saw Moochie fall down the stairs and his fro caught on fire", said Yao.

    :D

First of all, your dirty word will not be sucked by me. What's a trolly? yourself?

Second, Yao needs a team making himself better, a phenomenon that did not happen here. With those selfish players around, this team will go nowhere but lottery again and again. I don't mean they should win every game. Even if they lose they need to lose as a team, offering some fun to the fans. The rockets fans are so pathetic that most of them only have this terrible BB team to watch and drink the filthy water again and again of the rockets river. Over all, the rockets team work spirit is not as good as some high school bb team, even if they were winning. I hate to say this, but unfortunately that's a matter of fact, it's so unwatchable that it's like sufferring. I can give up the Rockets team, but I saw Yaoming playing basketball since he was 16, I know he can do better and better, but given the condition of no team triumph here, he should have a better future in a real "team", not in H-town, right now. Basically, who have team work spirit of houston rockets? Not Steve, he is a ball hog. I do believe this guy has some unmatchable personal ability, but how do you explain he didn't even bring the team to a single playoff? I feel like throw my bucks away watching him dribbling the whole court 8 seconds before the shot clock goes down. Mobley? He is someone always trying to pile up his own statistics to get a better trade value. not bad for rockets though! Taylor? oh, 80% of the time after he get the ball he will not pass for a easier basketball, and the worse thing is that the other four standing still there relaxing THEphilosophy of BB is the closer you are to the basket, the easier for you to get the ball in; the less pressure from the guard................etc.

The ultimate goal of NBA is to make money by pleasing the fans from all over the world. How? Win, win, and win. That's why dawinism prevails in NBA . Sorry maybe too much waste words here. PERIOD

This is complete BS. What's holding back Yao now is Yao himself. If you can't see this then it's because of your own lack of basketball knowledge. And this is comming from a BiG Yao Ming fan.

    Cheers!
