In Morey we trust. In Morey we trust. This is what we Rockets fans have come to remind ourselves, time and again. And for good reason. Well, this is it. After years of shrewd management and accumulating assets, our team is stock full of tradable goodies. Although I am confident our current roster, as is, can run up a more than respectable win total if things break(or don't, Yao) our way, but to truly contend we are still missing that one piece. The piece that all those assets were saved up for. The piece that we have been supposedly "predatory" after. With our recent signings and venture beyond the luxury tax threshold, there is no turning back. We are officially All In. This tells me there is no way we let Battier or Jefferies' contract expire without cashing in at max value before the February deadline. Chris Paul is demanding a trade. Carmelo won't sign an extension. Iguodala is in trade rumors. And Granger, well, we just like to talk about Granger at Clutchfans. Or even someone straight out of left field that no one has mentioned. From now until the trade deadline, this is what Morey has waited, planned, for all along. All the maneuvering comes down to now. Not to say it is all on him if things don't come to fruition. Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw. But he has positioned himself specifically to take advantage. This is, and will be, his finest hour. The table is set. The pieces are in place. It's your move Daryl. In Morey we trust.
My Lord, I hate that this is what we celebrate now as Rockets fans. That we've compiled some tradeable assets.
I kind of want to watch these assets play basketball. These assets are made out of people. They are people!!!!!!!!
Agreed. I think the Morey love is getting a little strange now. Let's wait until we get the superstar before we sing his praises.
I'd rather celebrate "second season" wins. I really enjoy parades. Not fond of Lottery Draft Parties and Formula Fests.
That ultimately may not be up to him. All he can control is putting us in position to take advantage, should the opportunity arise. And he has done a marvelous job at that.
Yeah, too bad we can't go back to the good ol' days of celebrating the signing of Knicks re-treads like Weatherspoon, Oakley, Strickland, etc.
And how do you suggest us get these "second season" wins? Through a litany of untradable assets? The whole point of "celebrating" assets, through shrewd management, is that THAT is what it will take for us to acquire enough talent, to get your "second season" wins. Unless we are bad enough for a superstar to fall in our laps in the draft lottery, this is the only way. Or do you have a better idea or suggestion?
Bosh, Iggy, Granger, Carmelo, Paul. You have to figure that something will eventually shake out with the remaining four. Even if that doesn't happen, we still get to swap picks with NY next Summer. And while trolls can bash us for supporting Morey, there are NBA fans, all around the country, that would love him to manage their favorite team. We're fortunate that Les is such a bold thinker. Let's never forget that. It's not just Morey, it's also Alexander. We're lucky to have both of them.
