I realize Memphis is awful, but how has this guy been under the radar for so long? He is absolutely incredible as a quarterback/playmaker. I can't ever remember seeing a Rockets point guard so composed and subsequently had so much faith in him. He just flat out makes all the right decisions. what was the scouting report on him coming out of college? i'm finding myself amazed watching him at how great a steal this was. I keep asking myself if I'm possibly just seeing what I want to believe and overhyping him in reaction to Rafer, but this has been a pretty sizable sample size now.
When the Rockets traded Gay for Battier they could've at least asked for Memphis' pick as well, which was Kyle Lowry. I'm glad we ended up getting him anyway.
Honestly I still think it's too early to tell. I'd like to see what he does with starter minutes and when defenses have to plan for him more. Esp in the playoffs. But I will say Memphis has been ripe for the picking for a while now. They've had what? Like 5 pgs on the roster for quite some time. But I love having him. Tough, no-nonsense guy.
lowry is doing the same things he did in memphis. theres really no suprise for me. he just got no minutes with oj mayo and mike conley.
Have been keeping an eye on Lowry since his 'Nova days - always been impressed. He has always reminded me of a more under control Stevie Francis.
Completely agree. I had to eat crow because I was not high on Lowry at all. It never felt so good to be wrong. This kid rarely makes a mistake and even his missed shots are good shots that just didn't go in. His court vision is excellent, he attacks the rim relentlessly, plays defense like a man possessed and does not ever give up layups. His shooting is also better than advertised and I have a feeling he will be shooting 3s at around 36% or better in another season or two. Great, great pickup and I don't see how he isn't the starter come next season.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Kyle-Lowry-608/ Look at the article, though I have no idea either.
if nothing more, this just gives me even more faith in morey. he's basically struck gold on everything he's touched.
yeah lowry did this for wuite a while in memphis when they actually let him start for several games, not sure why they gave up on him so quickly, apparently they liked conley's game better, maybe because conley scores more, who knows. They did trade pau for nothing and acquired like 6 point guards in one year, so they may be drinking it up a lot up there, go figure...
If Lowry develops a jump shot he will be a All-Star type player. If he does not develop a jump shot, he will be a decent to a good player, In general though he will be an easy target to exploit, especially with an offense centered around Yao. team will just pack up the paint and invite him to shoot the outside shot.
To amend this thread, I like Brooks a lot, but I have no doubt that Lowry should be starting at this point. Hid decision making and passing ability makes him a better fit with the starting lineup.
Parker was a star player for a while without a 3-point shot. I think Lowry can get by with his 20-22 footer, and his ability to penetrate.
