Ok, for my first post I thought I would gauge interest in an idea I have had for some time now. After the Bulls Dynasty ended, and several key players moved out West, the Eastern Conference has been a joke. More often than not the NBA Championship is either decided in the Western Conference Finals or in this years case, the Western Semi's. Now, I understand what tradition is all about and some of the rivalries that may be lost with my suggested playoff format, but there is nothing wrong with floating the idea. If anything, this will provide two things for the NBA: (1) The best team will/should (nothing is guaranteed) the NBA Championship, and the finals will be worth watching (2) It will give the Eastern Conference the opportunity to prove themselves.

I will list how the seeding would work but remember that homecourt will continue to be decided by record, and not necessarily seeding. So, using this years seeds I have produced the following brackets.

    (1) Indiana
    (8) Denver

    (4) Sacramento
    (5) New Orleans

    (3) Detroit
    (6) Memphis

    (2) Los Angeles
    (7) New York

    (1) Minnesota
    (8) Boston

    (4) Miami
    (5) Dallas (*Home Court)

    (3) San Antonio
    (6) Milwaukee

    (2) New Jersey
    (7) Houston

All comments or other suggestions are welcome! Peace!

I don't like it. Sometimes the East dominates, sometimes the West It's cyclical (sp).

Thanks for the welcome. I agree that NBA Playoff domination is cyclical but the argument could be made that regardless of what Conference is dominating at the time this kind of format would keep things interesting, and always allow for the best teams to play in the finals. Just playing Devils Advocate.
