Travelling for week from the 9th to the 15th. Only have two days of work obligation, staying through the weekend to vacation. I'm staying on the north central part of the city. Anything I should check out?
Its barbaric but if you've never seen it check out a bull fight. Also, the bars are nice and the women better.
Do they bullfight in December? I'm thinking of going to a La Liga game. The only one in town is Athletico Madrid vs. Villareal. Tickets are really cheap. Would this be advised? No Real Madrid games available unfortunately while I'm there.
If this is your first time, go to the usual tourist places like Plaza Mayor, El Retiro Park, Prado Museum, Royal Palace, Grand Street, and the Egyptian Ruins (forgot the name). For less toursity places, go to Artebar, Mercado de San Miguel, bicycle along the Manzanares river, etc.
definitely visit the museo del prado go here for churros: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187514-d1788549-Reviews-Chocolat-Madrid.html
visit the museums during the day party at night <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/z4vf1DzBcqs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Good suggestions. I'd recommend watching the Rick Steve's series on Spain. Search youtube for "Magestry of Madrid" and one on Toledo and Salamance. Toledo is less than an hour away and Steves has great day trip suggestions from Madrid. They should both be about 30 minute vids
Dont know about Madrid but in Barcelona the fried calamari was the best thing that could melt in your mouth. Good god it was so fresh. Must get some fried calamari. I just got a chub thinking about it again.
