Have a date tomorrow with a girl that just moved to town a while back. I told her i'd show her around downtown, because obviously she's not familiar. Thing is though, I haven't lived in Houston for a while myself.

What is there to do nowadays?

I was thinking of taking her to the galleria/that waterfall thing that everyone always goes to. But the galleria is a madhouse at this time of year from what i remember.

Umm other than that, discovery green? Ice skating? Hermann park? Idk..

Any advice on potentially interesting things to do while maintaining that Houston isn't boring. btw, if it helps i'm 21..but she's 20 so over 21 things wont help :/

If you don't want to take her to the Galleria, take her to either First Colony, Memorial City, or the Woodlands.

The Woodlands is cool. Go grab a bite at a good restaurant, hang around Market street, etc.

Then again I'm from the North side, so I'm not as cool as you downtown guys and there is probably way better crap to do lol

Discovery Green is nice, and they keep cops around there at night.

A long time ago, I used to look in the windows of the Houston Chronicle building and watch the presses run. I don't know if they still run like that, though.

A nice restaurant on Main St. would be nice, but it might be a walk from there to/from Discovery Green.

DO NOT, I repeat, do not take her to the Aquarium. I fell into this trap same time last year and it was the biggest rip off. I wish I could get my money back from it. You're better taking her to the zoo or watching "Mr. Poppers' Penguins" than going to the Aquarium.

If you're going to Discovery Green, there's a good Mexican place at the Pavilion by House of Blues.

If you two have chemistry, it won't matter where you take her. Just take her somewhere chill and peaceful and work on your charm, that's the most important thing.

Avoid the homeless people. Downtown is not safe at night. You can go to discovery green if people are around or Toyota center if people are around.

You know how impossible it is to avoid the homeless people? You can't, they're everywhere.

I still haven't skated there, and I think they're gonna shut it down it soon, so I need to hurry.

Is Mai's open yet? They burned down.
