Things That Have Happened in the World Since the Last Rockets Win

    Considering how long it has been since the Rockets last won a game, I got to thinking: how much has things changed from the last Rockets win to now?

    For example, what are some big events that have happened in the world and in sports and just in general since the last Rockets win?

    Another thing that would be interesting to see is what everyone's post count was the night the Rockets won and compare that to now. Don't worry...I'll let Clutch handle this (if he wants to). I would be curious to see if this losing streak has caused people to post more than their usual average or has it caused the average to go down.

    I'll go ahead and start:

    Things that have happened since the last Rockets win:

    The nation celebrated Thanksgiving.
    Jason Giambi signed with those damn Yankees.

    That's not exactly a "big event that has happened in the world and in sports and just in general", Francis3422.

    The Taliban is no longer in power.

    China formally entered the WTO.

    Another Ebola outbreak has occurred in Africa.

    Steve Francis got a DWI.

    Mo Taylor failed a drug test.

    KT got a nut knocked loose.

    Aside from the first item, it's been a bad month.

    BTW, for anyone who is playing the spelling game, does the "how much has things changed" in Manny's post count? Should be "have" instead of "has"... Just curious.

    If you go back to the thread in the hangout about the "spelling" contest, you will see that I said that I have all the confidence in the world in my spelling, but that my grammar is another story.

    Believe me...you will see scores of grammatical mistakes from me before you will see spelling errors. Besides..."has" and "have" is getting a might picky, don't you think?

    Well, in Canada we always said "laid" instead of "layed"....but enough of spelling.

    In world events, Detroit won its first game - leaving the Rockets with the longest current losing streak in professional sports.

    Houston re-elected Lee Brown...and this week he was heard saying to the firefighters "You screwed me at the election. Well, what goes around, comes around boys."

    The Yankees signed a high-dollar free agent - but that's not news, it's business as usual.

    John Walker Lindh (American Taliban) took the title of "Most reviled John in America" away from John Rocker, redneck racist and sometime baseball pitcher. In what appears to be a desperation move for publicity in response, Rocker got himself traded to the Texas Rangers. It should be noted that Rocker originally took the title away from Hugh Grant. Hugh Grant still holds the title of "Worst move by a John" for seeing a prostitute while dating Elizabeth Hurley.

    And finally, the best geek movie in decades opened on Dec 18th.

    A RING? Hah, I'd settle for a win - the Lakers can keep their damn rings for this year.
