I'm curious what we collectively as a group can come up with that were mainstays prior to the computer age. Try to limit your response to just one, and try to elaborate on it. Let's see who can come up with what. As in "If you would like this recipe, Please send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to:", etc. Before computers, you heard the above line after just about every TV show. (transcript, recipe, etc.) These days, that line is completely gone. I haven't heard it in years.
Good one! And spot on, just like the VCR effectively got rid of the Adult theatre. (And p*rn actually trying to be somewhat of a "story.")
Phoning a local number for all the sports scores from the previous night. I used to do this every Saturday morning (no newspaper)...although I'm confused as to why I didn't just turn to TV. Nonetheless, I haven't heard of anything like these phone numbers in years...
^^^ local newspapers in general. I only subscribe to the sunday paper for the ads. I like looking at the ads more than surfing for them online. I don't why, I'm weird i guess.
Thank you notes after Christmas. Now I can just copy/paste a generic note and change the name on each one.
Personal correspondence. We still get regular letters from my wife's uncle who refuses to switch to email. But, we don't ever write him back, because writing a letter seems too laborious when you have email.
I pay all my bills online now except my rent. Electric, gas, cable, phone, school, auto, etc. is all done online. No writing checks or mailing for bills anymore.
I would think 24 "Newstands" but they seem to always have cars parked in the lot...me thinks something "dirty" is afoot.
