Had to make sure it was real... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . IT SO FREAKING IS!!! http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Editorial/187608 Daylight exacerbates warning You may have noticed that March of this year was particularly hot. As a matter of fact, I understand that it was the hottest March since the beginning of the last century. All of the trees were fully leafed out and legions of bugs and snakes were crawling around during a time in Arkansas when, on a normal year, we might see a snowflake or two. This should come as no surprise to any reasonable person. As you know, Daylight Saving Time started almost a month early this year. You would think that members of Congress would have considered the warming effect that an extra hour of daylight would have on our climate. Or did they ? Perhaps this is another plot by a liberal Congress to make us believe that global warming is a real threat. Perhaps next time there should be serious studies performed before Congress passes laws with such far-reaching effects. CONNIE M. MESKIMEN / Hot Springs
OMG this so so friggin' hilarious. Maybe they should blame the conservative congress since the decision to move up DST was made a year or two ago.
I'm not from Arkansas, but have been going to college here for several years now, and wow.... I was ready to defend someone, but LOL.
PS, I just found out that this was somewhat of a hoax. The letter was genuine, but was written as satire.... http://courts.state.ar.us/attylist/new/bynum.cgi?num=++81118 is the listing that shows this person is an attorney a little pwnage of everyone that thinks Arkansans are this stupid...(although I fell for it too)
So you're telling me you think a person that made it through that many years of college + law school would seriously write that letter?
Some of the smartest people I know are some of the dumbest people I know. I could see it as satire making fun of ignorant rednecks who blindly support Bush and think global warming is a liberal conspiracy.
You'd be surprised what kind of morons come out, even w/ the highest of degrees. I know firsthand through my sister and gf (lawyer, scientist, respectively). I've been told about them and met them myself, and let's just say there's still such thing as good and BAD lawyers/doctors/etc.
Furthermore, I'd argue that the grammar and syntax of the letter would indicate that this person is well educated.
"I really cannot comprehend how stupid people can be sometimes. Can you comprehend it?" "No, I can't comprehend it." "I mean, we can put a man on the moon but we're still basically very stupid. The guy who's car this is, he could be one of the guys that built the rocket. You see what I'm saying?" "Well, yeah, he can build the rocket, but he's still stupid for double-parking and blocking somebody in." "So you really understand my point about building the rocket and double-parking?" "On the one hand he's smart with rockets and on the other hand he's dumb with parking."
