Alperen Şengün has been good for the Rockets in less than 20 minutes per game off the bench. 2.5spg is amazing in 6 games and not playing really long minutes
Here's my thesis: You are a Theis only hater. I've decided not to write the follow-up essay. I hope that's satisfactory to everyone.
I dunno if Sengun should start right away. He certainly has shown more than Theis. But it may be better for his development to come off the bench, play against backups to gain confidence before going full time against starters.
Yea like if we're okay with sending Green out there as a starter...why are we hesitant to do the same with Sengun? To be fair, one played in the G-League and the other played in the Turkish league with grown men and won the league MVP so I don't think it's unreasonable to put Sengun in as a starter now.
Doesnt matter who starts. The finishers and meaningful floor time is best. Over 25 mins of him and KJ gives us the best chance of competing against any team.
Absolutely. But Green being the 2nd pick, it’s kind of assumed he should be going against starters right away. But I agree, it’s probably better long term for them to go against the 2nd teams, get Reps, gain confidence, gain STRENGTH (particularly for Green), and then gradually increase their minutes against starters until they’re ready to take the job on full time. However, with our current team makeup, it’s probably better to have Egos veteran presence with our reserves. In general though, bigs are going to have a tougher time adjusting to the physicality differences between college or other pro leagues and the NBA. Relative to his position, Sengun is much stronger than Green, but the speed and skill of bigs is going to be harder for Sengun to match right away than for Green with his elite athleticism.
