    1. The husband of one of my mom and dad's couple-friends got a girlfriend pregnant and left his wife (who was unable to have children) to start a family with the girlfriend.

    2. One of the neighborhood wives propositioned my mother sexually (presenting herself in the nude, of course)

    3. One of my dad's "buddies" propositioned my mother for a sexual relationship

    Oedipal conflicts in narcissistic personality disorders.

    "....A premise of this paper is that a number of male patients we refer to as 'narcissistic characters' suffer intense guilt. This derives from the fact that their oedipal experiences come closer to actualizing what Freud (1916) characterized as 'the two great criminal intentions of killing the father and having sexual relations with the mother' (p.333). Case material is presented to delineate these disturbances. Process material is examined to highlight problems of technique common to these patients...."

    I have only learned of this stuff in the past 10 years or so. One of these, I just learned today.

    Kinsey aside, I thought the 50s-60s were kind of a quiet, pedestrian time in America. I guess not.

    you must just mean the early 60s like the thread title. the later 60's you had the civil rights movement, vietnam, and hippies like Deckard roaming freely.
