In these uncertain political and economic times, we need to revisit those issues that are truly most important to us all. One of these, I argue, is the right to get high on some delicious, green bud, gently relaxing as all of your worldly concerns dissolve into a fragrant cloud of smoke. Ahhh, the righteous gift to mankind that God planted for us in his majestic garden of eternal love. Why have you been scorned and misunderstood, you most versatile plant sent directly from the heavens? Oh, the industries that would "sprout up" in the wake of the end to your prohibition. Ah, while hard working Americans watch their fortunes crumble, if they could only be free to indulge in the sweet herb that makes the most mundane activities of paupers fill their hearts with excitement and joy that are usually only experienced by the privileged classes with their exotic toys and possessions. Oh, heavenly plant of human freedom, perhaps humankind is not worthy of you, but your time will come....

Legalization of drugs would create more tax dollars, jobs, etc. while eliminating a large portion of organized and regular criminal activities. There are drawbacks too of course, but that's with everything. I think the pros outweigh the cons.

    A new greenback :D

Dollar can burn too but not the same effects. Maybe it could replace toilet paper cause apparently we have ton of paper to pass around.

Uh, not even close on this one. For example, did you know that mar1juana, if legalized, would be Kentucky's largest cash crop?

Will that paranoid feeling you get from smoking it go away if it's legalized?

I've always thought (don't know) that the illegal mar1juana trade means more for the economy than it would if legalized (so long as you don't throw too many people in jail).

Could be. Think of all the dealers who would actually have to get a job, and that job probably wouldn't pay as much.

With that said, and as pointed out earlier, removing the criminal aspect would be more than welcome. Some of the things that go on for the drug trade to exist are monstrous. As are the attitudes of those a lot of those people in general.

Back to the OP, I got a good laugh. Not my thing, but all power to you =)

    mar1juana Still Tempts Ricky Williams
Positive Test Could Put RB Out Of NFL For Good

MIAMI -- Ricky Williams said he was briefly tempted to smoke mar1juana during the Miami Dolphins' bye weekend, an act that could have ended his roller-coaster NFL career.

Williams has been in the league's substance-abuse program since 2002 and has tested positive for mar1juana.

Williams told The Miami Herald for Tuesday's editions that when players were given Friday off, "automatically your mind, which is so constrained since training camp began ... says, `I'm free, what can I do?"'

"So there was definitely an urge," he said. "But I just thought about what I have to lose, and it was easy. The urge didn't last very long."

Since 2004, the Dolphins running back has played only 16 NFL games, including three this year. If Williams were to smoke mar1juana again, he would likely be out of the NFL for good because he has already violated the league drug policy four times.

"There's no space, no wiggle room for me," Williams said.

He said that doesn't scare him, because he feels he's in control and on the right path. He said he successfully combated the latest urge to smoke by meditating instead, which gives him the same "feeling of being free" as mar1juana.

"A lot of times when people have some kind of addiction, what happens is they make a mistake and trip up and afterward say, `I don't know what I was thinking,"' he said. "If you always try to be aware of what is going on in your mind, you won't ever get to that point where it's too late."

The 1998 Heisman Trophy winner and 2002 NFL rushing champion said it's normal to have an urge to smoke. Williams is tested nine times per month on a random basis. The man who administers the urinalysis for the NFL sometimes shows up at Williams' home before dawn.

Williams said he will not smoke mar1juana again while he's in the NFL, but he's uncertain whether he'll abstain when his career ends.

"I'd be lying if I said I'm never going to do it again after I'm done," he said. "I don't know. I don't spend much time thinking about it."
