There's no way the Rockets were going to beat the Defending Champ Showtime Lakers.

    Someone should of the told them that. With a mix of talented Vets and young talent(This years team has that) Rockets got it done.

    This Team can do the Same!

    Rockets vs Lakers 1985-86 regular season game results:

    Game 1 LOSS (12/6/85): Rockets 112 @ Lakers 120
    Game 2 LOSS (2/6/86): Lakers 117 @ Rockets 95
    Game 3 LOSS (3/16/86): Rockets 111 @ Lakers 116
    Game 4 WIN (4/6/86): Lakers 103 @ Rockets 109
    Game 5 LOSS (4/10/86): Rockets 113 @ Lakers 117

    Lakers won the season series 4-1, BUT what I take out of it was how the Rockets were actually competitive against them on the road. Average margin of victory less than 6 points.

    This year's team has not been competitive against them on the road. As you all know, we have to win at least one road game to win the series. We were 1-2 on the road against the Blazers, with the only win courtesy of Nate McMillan's awful strategy on guarding Yao.

    A famous quote in Chinese on soccer games: "The ball is round and anything can happen." You never know. It's not uncommon that underdogs beat the most favorite teams. As long as Rox play smart team games, they have a chance. Rox in 7 - Go Rox!

    The Rockets actually were competitive with the Lakers on the road, but the problem (and it's a big one) is that the Rockets in the fourth quarter.

    I broke it all down in another thread in which I made this post...

    that team had a mediocre record but two young superstars yet to realize their potential. that's always conducive to a higher ceiling for success.

    this team is a group of hard working role players efficiently playing as a whole greater than the sum of its parts. not sure how much upside there is with that, but they play the games for a reason. maybe we can steal a game or two with efficiency and grit.

    good note for sentimental purposes, but not much of a comparison except the names on the jerseys.
