Yao Mom (1.95m) was the centre of Chinese National Women Basketball Team in the 70s and 80s and Yao Dad (2.06m) was the centre of Shanghai Team that time too. With some chemistry, they got married, then the whole Chinese basketball were excited to expect a second generation from them. At that time, the average Chinese salary per mont was like USD 10 dollar per month, but Yao's family got the government sponsorship for USD 40 on foods and etc. Some people suggest Yao's parents to give birth to one or two more kids, but under the tight budget, they gave up. What a pity!!!!!! They must regret a lot now!!! God, can't imagine Yao Ming plays against his brothers in NBA after years!!!!

Maybe they didn't want other kids, though. I'm not saying that it's okay that they couldn't have any because of economic problems, but that doesn't mean it should have been forced on them simply because they're tall and maybe their kids would be, too.

I hope, and believe, that the original poster was joking. :)

No basketball fans anywhere was advocating the Yaos have more kids... except maybe the grandparents.

The US should have Michael Jordan bang Cynthia Cooper to form the ultimate SG to ever play the game.

A close second would be Shaq and Lisa Leslie.

It's good for the Chinese, but bad for the Rockets fans if Yao has a brother. Simply near impossible to get them both.

I'm not sure whether the other posters are joking or not, but a couple of names for you:

    Afis Olajuwon
    Eddie Bird
    Gerald Wilkins
    Brent Price

    Look at the list

Probably the most successful are the Barry's (Jon, Brent, and Drew), or the Jones' (Charles, Caldwell, Major, and Wilbert). Still, I wouldn't call any two of either group superstars!

The problem is you need to get identical twins, like those Collins brothers out of Stanford, to make sure you're getting almost the same thing.

Too bad Vince and Tracy couldn't stay together on the same team. Kinda cool that superstar cousins got to play together in the expanded NBA.

    Am I wrong????

I am just saying that it will be a good thing to know there is a possibility in Yao's family. Maybe Yao Ming will have a sister playing in WNBA against Lesile!!! I mean, come on guys, Reggie Miller has a sister whose achievement to US basketball is much greater, of course fewer persons know she ever exists, anyway, it is pretty cool to see the family tides, right?

Don't know if you've ever heard of this little problem they have in China called "overpopulation"? Having more than 1 kid is frowned upon.
