Someone explain to me how you trade Edgar Rentaria, $11 million, and Guillermo Mota for Coco Crisp? That just boggles the mind. If Theo were the GM the entire time that stuff never happens.
Considering Epstein is set to rejoin the Red Sox in some sort of management/advisory capacity, I would think he had some level of input on that trade.
your forgetting andy marte, he's in the top 5 prospects throughout the entire minor leagues. I could care less about prospects and have no problem trading them away for good players. But the word around baseball is their stupidity in trading Marte for a LF who takes terrible routes on balls when playing CF. Also Alex Gonzalez is thier new ss. I hear he's a batting title winner waiting to happen. Also, Crisp, Gonzalez, Lowell are all free swingers. I will enjoy that, esp. since their leadoff hitter swings at the first pitch 50% of the time.
You must not read the Boston Globe as it is pretty well-known that Theo Epstein was behind the deal of Renteria. All I have to say is that Coco Crisp better be as good as they think he is. I have a feeling that Marte will be a monster. Maybe Beckett will be lights out and Schilling and Foulke will bounce back from off-seasons, but I am typing too many what ifs and maybes.
