    Theo Ratliffe

Just an idea but I think a lot of problems have to do with the SOFT power forwards we have. Last year Yao had Cato who really covered up some of Yao's difficiencies quite well. He complemented him very well and it allowed Yao to be more effective. In my mind a player like Theo Ratliffe would be great for the Rockets because he has always been a good rebounder and he's always played very tough. I am not sure what his contract situation was, and last time I checked he was playing with Portland. Probably a pipe dream but I think he would be a nice fit. He could alleviate some of the pressure on Yao to do everything in the post, because clearly Mo Taylor and J Howard are not getting it done.

I would love to have him. All I know is portland does not play him much but when he is in he still blocks 3 or 4 shots a game.

Exactly. He doesn't play that much and I think he could really help the Rockets. He kind of reminds me of that classic enforcer type, but he is a really good rebounder. His numbers are down this year but I think they may be because of playing time. I kind of wonder if he is suffering an injury or something.

Anyone that can rebound is welcomed...

TR would be great for Yao. He could really help the weakside D, rebounding and blocks!!!

The thing is that we have very little to offer teams. And we definitley don't have any pieces that Portland wants.

Yeah the best we could offer would be....hmm....wait I see a small light of hope......maybe a.......future first top 20 protected? If not that combied with the trade exception I don't think we have anything to offer them.

The Blazers just signed him to a 3 year extension and have made him one of the stars of their new public relations ads, trying to improve the image of the team. I don't think they would consider trading him, especially for anything that we have.

YEAR TEAM G GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
    04-05 POR 14 14 28.5 .446 .000 .611 1.90 2.80 4.70 .2 .14 2.57 .79 3.90 4.4

4.7 rebounds, 2.57 blocks, 4.4 points in 28.5 minutes ain't all that, the blocks are nice but to say he is an answer to our rebounding woes is not the case. All we have to offer are 6'9" soft PF's. Look at Portland's roster and you'll see what Portland doesn't need.

Ratliff has been struggling this year and Blazers fans would love to dump his contract. Everyone knows he's a crazy shot-blocker, but he's not much on offense, and isn't a great rebounder. I'm confident that we could acquire him in the offseason if we wanted to, especially with the pieces we have now. The question is, would we want to?

If he can hit the 15 foot J, take him.

Pass, 36m contract expiring in 2008 for a player with major question marks. I'll stick with Juwan.

He has also been injury prone over his entire career.

Three years from now, Mutombo might have Alzheimer's disease.

3 years from now, we might have a nice FA, draft pick, or the BadMan might step up.
