So the day has finally come. The Xbox 360 will be officially unveiled tonight on MTV at 9:30 eastern (8:30 for us in central time). Here's a preview from the MTV web site: So if anyone is interested in the Xbox 360 or video games period, find what channel MTV is on, watch this special, and then go watch Sportscenter or whatever so your brain doesn't get damaged by the other MTV programs. If you have any questions, thoughts, reactions, or anything else you'd like to say about the event, try to keep it in this thread. Also, I want to say the OurColony thing ends today at around noon, so we may get something from there before the event. Until then, here's some pretty art from Perfect Dark Zero:
Unfortunately, sportscenter probably isn't the best place to go to avoid brain-damaging TV. I'm struggling with the dilemma of having to watch MTV in order to see the new Xbox. In the end, I think I'll skip it, because here's my prediction of the breakdown of the time alloted for the show: 40% commercials 25% bull**** celebrity wankfest talking about how Xbox is the coolest 20% musical performance by the Killers 5% intro and credits 10% actual material on the Xbox 360 (featuring 8-9% talking about it and showing off the hi tech looking design, and 1-2% actual game footage) Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the new Xbox, I just think I'll just pass on this particular show and come in here to check out impressions from others.
I do this good impression of Nixon... "Brbrbrbrbrbrrrrrr I am NOT a crook!" Or how about Mexican Johnny Carson: "Hola, Ed... Mi amigo Ed Mac mejon... " What about Andrew Dice Clay: "[fix collar... take a puff... shake head... fix collar again...] Hickory... hickory... dock... this chick was... [grab privates] Oh!" Thanks, you've been great, don't forget the house has a 2-drink minimum!
exactly, though i think 10% is stretching it. i'm gonna tivo it and try to find the 30 seconds of coverage, hopefully i don't skip over it when i'm fast forwarding.
I've been a member here for a while but never posted, but i thought you guys would like to see this. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/611/611226p1.html They have a few pics of the new system
Agreed, a bunch of pictures of super cool CGI graphics and a few shots of a plastic shell with some chips or computer stuff inside - sure I'll buy one, but wake me up in December when it's out.
To be fair, I think the last two pics in that article are pics I never posted here. Ok. We're about 4 hours away and I'm going to try to have one big update before it is unveiled. First off. There is an article from a magazine about the Xbox 360 that has been put on the Internet. I'm not sure on all the legal stuff about the magazine scans however, so I won't post them directly here. I will give you guys a link though to where you *may* find the scans: http://new.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=46947 The magazine isn't in English, so if you can't find the scans, the only good things were a few pics of things we've already seen (or will see tonight), just at different angles. As for the info, here's some translations from that same thread: One interesing quote from the magazine was that Peter Moore mentioned that Square-Enix hasn't pledged support to the Xbox 360 yet, although he doesn't see how any developer will end up not supporting it down the road. Not really a surprise, but it seems to put away those few rumors of Square-Enix working with Microsoft (again)...at least for now anyways. Second of all, here's what appears to be a short video clip of those pics shown earlier of the Xbox 360: http://media.xboxfront.com/xbox360/xbox360.wmv Again, you'll see that or better tonight, but if you can't wait, you can watch that clip. And finally, it appears that some pics of DoA 4 for the Xbox 360 have been leaked as well. Ready for some images from the graphics masters of Team Ninja? Ready to see something that will blow your mind even more than those Unreal Tournament images? Ready? Here you go: Edit: Nevermind, just go to the link below. More pics here. If you're thinking that these don't quite look THAT impressive for next-gen, don't feel alone. These graphics appear to be too much for the Xbox, but not really something that should be pushing the Xbox 360's hardware to its limits (or even close). I'm not really sure what the deal is. Perhaps Team Ninja is focusing on other things while keeping the same style of the game, or maybe these are either fake/incomplete. I just find it hard to believe that the guys who made Ninja Gaiden can make a game that looks only marginally better on a next-gen console. I guess we'll have to stay tuned...or wired or whatever you call it.
Hehe...well, that's the last time I try taking an image from Gaming-Age. I guess you can just look at all the pics from the link.
Hmm, I thought DoA 4 looked great from those screenshots - especially if they are in game play and not cut scenes.
Don't get me wrong, the game looks better than any other fighting game I've ever seen. But considering this is on next-gen hardware, they seem to be lacking a little bit, especially on the character models (environments look pretty good, IMO). When you see other games that look like this: Then it just seems strange that the game models in DOA 4 don't look even close to that, especially since I would expect them to look event better since this would be from a fighting game. I did read that maybe Team Ninja wanted to keep that anime look, but they could still had better looking models, such as the models from their CGI in Ninja Gaiden and others. Just my opinion though, but it does seem a little weird that you would probably mistake these for a DOA game on the Xbox and not the Xbox 360.
heh, not Xbox related, but check this screenshot of Yao on NBA '06 on PSP: http://www.gaming-age.com/cgi-bin/img.pl?image=/previews/ps2/nba2006/&img=3&imgnum=8&sys=ps2&game=nba2006 my caption "Foul on Yao" heh btw, back on topic, if anybody finds this on .torrent after the show is done, you are GOD... im stuck at work till 11pm yes i know its MTV, but i want to watch it tonight
There should be something on the Internet. This is getting attention around the world. Gaming-Age is based out of Europe (UK I believe), so I'm thinking that they would like some type of torrent of the show as well instead of watching the event at 2 in the morning (or whatever time it will be, if they show it at the same time). BTW, it looks like OurColony just finished up with this streaming video clip. My internet connection is too slow to really watch it, but I'm sure you guys may able to: http://msxb.wmod.llnwd.net/a274/o2/ourcolony/TheColony_v1_750k.wmv A summary of the clip was: + Water-cooled ... just like my dual G5. + Full front customizable face-plates + 512MB RAM + 3 Cores + All games HD & Surround + Hard-drive appears to be standard + 360-Button takes you to system UI + Video Chat, Video Messages + Game invites while watching movies Less that 15 minutes now. edit: There's also this link: http://68.142.72.52/a274/o2/ourcolony/TheColony_v1_750k.wmv?MSWMExt=.asf
