...Phil Harrison. He's the President of SCE WWS for those of you that don't know.

This was from a recent interview with the folks at Gametrailers. You can watch the interview here:
    http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?r=1&type=wmv&id=17027

Basically, when asked if he was surprised by the success of the Wii, he responded by saying that it was a very positive trend for the industry that something fun and lighthearted can be adopted widely, and if that will get more people to play games, then he's all for it ("Why would I not welcome that kind of innovation?"). Pretty much the same stance I have on it actually.

Given some of the previous comments by Sony (or some of the comments by others that work at Sony I should say), I found his comments somewhat surprising. Then again, I usually enjoy hearing what Harrison has to say...can't really say the same for some of the guys in charge of PR in the US (sometimes wish guys like Tretton and Karakker would just shut up).

IGN also has video interview with Harrison:

I couldn't help but laugh when he says something like, "With all due respect to the naysayers in the media, I couldn't care less." This was in response to the negativity directed towards the PS3 since launch (citing the success of the PS3 compared to platforms released prior to the PS3 and customer satisfaction as a reason why).

There's some other interesting comments in there about the possibility of achievements making their way to the PS3, as well as the idea of user-created content making its way to the platform.

FWIW, he decided not to comment on the rumors about KZ showing up at GDC. You know what that means... ;)

    Absolutely nothing. :(
